The Longmire knifers must have been throwing things at the tele tonight during "Footy Classified" when Longmire was being put up there with Chris Scott as a first year coach who had done a great job with their respective teams.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.
I to have been perplexed by some selections this year but don't forget a Match Committee does the selecting not Longmire alone. Coaches are nearly always made by their players so Buckley is likely to become a good coach because he has the best side. Always tougher for coaches starting with bottom eight sides or with sides being rebuilt which ours is.
Anyway, this is currently a silly thread and should be killed .......... until our year is over!
What a difference a year makes (NOT that this discussion should have come up at all).
Anyone who asked for Horse's head on a platter... would you like fries with those words??
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
I believe there were threads calling into question the process of his appointment. I believe there are threads, rubbishing young players TDL, Jesse White, Jetta etc ... You may think it is ridiculous to call into question a coaches position (in his first year, Roos almost didn't get past 7 matches) - I think it is a valid thread. You do not have to agree with it, and the floor is open for you to bring out your arguments against. You have that right. But please stop this inane "first year coach' argument - it is meaningless. Back up why he is so good so we can throw it back at you in 12 months or so, just like you will be able to do to me when I say he is as useless as tits on a bull. He does not have the respect of the players and he never will, no matter what he does. He should go back to Corowa/Rutherglen - They love him there - He should coach them in the Murray River League. He might get somewhere. Might.

Hehe I've been eating a lot of humble pie served by LRT. I don't mind people having an opinion, but they should be happy to eat their hat and words when they're proven wrong. It's funny how the mood of the Swans fans has changed significantly since that month of hell where we had 3 losses (2 capitulations and one very narrow loss) and obviously the passion that stirred up called for a lot of heads to roll. The wild ride that is the H&A season throws up so many situations and variables that it truly is a rollercoaster and us fans get dragged along with it. I guess that can make us do/say silly things but being big enough to go "hey I was wrong" and on the flip side not being really awful and rubbing people's face in it is an admirable quality. Underneath it all though I'm sure we can be happy with this season thus far and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Very well put, not ever having been wrong myself, I would imagine it would be galling. It is good for those that have, to fess up, and admit they were wrong though.
The only dud coach we've had - to my recollection - was Gary Buckenara and possibly Floodney Eade's last two years.
Buckenara inherited a team on the slide, however he made it a steep descent to the point of the Swans being a basket case and nearly folding. My favourite out of many of Buckenara's "how not to coach" methods was when he made the players crawl laps around the SCG on a cold wet training night. Three players got infected knees out of the episode, with Robert Neal (who could have been anything) missing a lot of football due to his infections.
In relation to Longmire, regardless of what he and the Swans achieve for the rest of the season, those who bagged Horse should have a long hard look at themselves. This clubs going places - I'm really excited about the young players who are regulars (read. Parker, Jetta, Reid, Johnson, N. Smith, Hannebery et al) and out of the side injured or building up for senior action (read. Mitchell, Rohan, Lamb, Brown, Lockyer, Cunningham, Lynch et al).
I'll put my paw up. I hated the succession plan, and thought Horse would just continue with Roos's out of date game plan....
Very happy to say....I WAS 100% WRONG !
Well done Ernie.
I'm looking forward to a few of the more feral Horse haters to say exactly the same thing. Somehow i think I might be waiting for a while.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC
