I didn't see the debacle at the weekend but after a shattering loss like that you either change nothing and give everyone a chance to redeem themselves or you make 2-3 changes.

If we make changes lets tip out non contributors and/or those carrying injuries that are preventing 100% effectiveness.

From the stats Jetta has to go and Meredith stays only to give some continuity to him. Nipper is a real goer so should be given another run and Rohan as the sub looks a good way to get him back at senior level.

And the scary thing? Kardinia Park in a fortnight, be afraid, be very afraid!

An unlike Sydney game today, but its our kicking that has let us down all year. Our disposal is worse than GC...bordering on PA!!!!
For me, TK has to go, he's lost the speed and nous for todays game. I know we have TDL knockers but at least he kicks straight, play him out of the square with an open fwd line.
The bulldog is a smarter fwd than most, and lets get lamb in if hes fit and see what he can do. If we dont improve our basic skills we are going down.
We also need our ressies to get back in the VFL so they play against good footballers not locals.

What we really need is a true Eastern conference with the best in Qld, NSW & ACT. The NSW clubs couldn't afford this new comp and don't want to split their league but if given financial incentives the best will come into the conference. We will no longer say it is a crap comp as it will be comparable with the VFL, SANFL & WAFL. There just needs to be the finance to attract good players.

Ins and outs don't really matter. We played basically the same team as the ones who almost rolled Collingwood earlier in the year. The difference between now and then, is heart and spirit. None of the players wearing the red and white today (bar a few ie. Goodes, Richards, Mumford) looking like the were proud to be wearing the bloods colors, nor did they really try and win the game at any stage. I don't even know what to think, but honestly, I'd say our year is over. And based on todays efforts, probably our reign of never really dropping off as contenders from the last 8 years or more, is gone too.

I don't agree with you I think Goodes has been patchy at best this year, his best has been magnificent but his worst is very poor. Players like Parker, Hannas, AJ, Birdie & Smithie have all tried very hard and a lot of the old blokes have let them down this year. I think B1 is still carrying an injury as he never gets his tackles broken & the Richmond boys just shrugged him off. Jack hasn't been the same since his injury & we have to realise he is still a young bloke too & obviously taking longer to get back into the swing than normal.

My how times change, Bolton was being considered All Australian and is widely respected by all clubs, Adam Goodes is an extremely good player who plays each week with heart and soul. Maybe things do not come off but to read that he is a protected species by this teams very own fans defy belief!! Of course he is, he is a champion and the first picked, other teams worry about how to cover him. Talk about knee jerk reactions....last weeks game was atrocious, very unswanlike and non competive. The whole team and coaching staff have to rectify this not one or two players. Very short memories on this thread. I agree with do not look anywhere near a finals team and have struggled all year for consistancy. All the ins and outs have to be disruptive and I am not convinced about John Longmire but nor do I subscribe to the conspiracy theories or for the calls of getting rid of him before his first year is complete. Never underestimate the influence of Brett Kirk and Craig Bolton or for that matter Paul Roos. If they fail this week and play with the same inept attitude then by all means rip up your memberships and follow another team who is a sure bet in this competition (if you can find one). No guarantees in this game but plenty of ups and downs, it is not the end of the world as we know it.

Before we run off dropping everyone in the team, we can only replace them with what we have in the ressies, obviously Rohan comes in, but Pyke will still be short of a gallop and Nipper will still struggle to get a touch at senior level. I would have thought Moore Bevan, Malceski would be good options to bring in, with the experience base, maybe it's time to try Seaby at FF, move LRT back, give one of the defenders a rest, well we just had the bye so that's not really an excuse I can use. We're just as likely to see a completely different attitude next week, but if we don't continue to play the young blokes and get them to gel as ateam, we're going to be in this spot for along time. We can lament the midfields performance yesterday, but if you have no forward line to kick to, how r u going to go?

How do you work out that Nipper will struggle at senior level? You don't know what he will do unless we play him in at least 3 games. He got one and wasn't the worst, did a few good things and showed promise, then strait back to the resies. Forget the players drop the coach.

The Saints are tall and they have a very tall forward line we need to play tall so Spangher to FF, Lamb to wing, Nipper forward, Rohan to HB, Seabs playing off the bench. Macca as sub. Spang can always go back if the is a problem with the talls & Seabs can go to FF.
Parker had 7 posies in a quarter last week some of our lot had less for the match. It is no use bombing the ball in the air either from FB or into the forward line & hoping Mummy, LRT or Reidy mark it & kicking to McGlinn up over his head with Delidio bearing down on him. About time we got an AFL game plan not an under 13's game plan.

Our Midfield is diabolical at the moment. Coupled with our lack of forward defensive pressure and forward attack and BINGO!

Joey is doing some great work inside but even once he looks to get the ball out there is no-one there to back him up. He is just getting monstered at the clearance.

Time for some bodies up front that will at least attempt to lock the ball in. Parker needs to start, and I would even push Benny Mac further into the centre. Rohan off HB for Tadhg and have him pushing up the wing and Nipper Gordon who will run all day to come in for Meredith/Jetta. Not sure who would be the sub though.

My point is I think B1 is injured and playing injured, he came off second best when tackling against the Bombers & I don't think his body is quite right. Goodsie, by his own admission, has been inconsistent this year but of course he is in our best side no doubt about that, Jude also if he is fit & I don't believe he is. Have doubts about Longmire with a Under 13's Game Plan you'd have to have doubts.

Actually, as a tap ruckman, Pyke is ahead of Seaby. As a resting forward, Pyke is ahead of Seaby. Around the ground, Seaby is well ahead of Pyke. If it were out of Pyke and Seaby for the first ruckman, I'd go Seaby. But Pyke has the versatility up forward to be the second ruckman, while still being very effective in the taps.

i'd change the ruck set up to 50/50 Mummy & Seaby with Mummy resting sometimes forward & sometimes on the bench, Seabs always a bencher when resting & Spangs to FF definitely when Seabs rests but also for the most part. Mummy would give Spangs a rest.

LRT got 9 possies & was entirely crap. Out & AJ stays at least he tried & got the ball, his use was crap but our players don't help each other. Richmond shepherded all day & I haven't seen a shepherd from any of our players except Jack & Parker

If you ever want to know if a Team is up for a contest - shepherds are one of the best markers. We don't work hard enough for each other and that part of our game is extremely noticeable.

We haven't shepherded since Roos started coaching the Swans so I'm guessing it's team policy because they were certainly playing for each other back then.

Tough call on a player playing out of position. I remember Gehrig didn't do well playing defence on Baz, either but still got games afterwards. I may have had my eyes closed but I didn't see our midfield get the ball deep into the goal square much at the weekend as it spent most of the time heading away from our attacking 50. I wonder if that's why LRT had a quiet game?

Do you doubt his commitment each week?

I agree Nich, we are ball chasing out there. But I think it is the style the coaches are asking the players to play. Luke Parker did all the good things when he first came in and then got dropped & that sends the wrong message to a young player. I think the coaches are not up to it & I have seen much better set ups in Under 15 footy. There is one plan against every side & an emergency plan which really consists of flooding the backline ala Grant Thomas, Terry Wallace. there seems to be no real sensational ground breaking or even up to date method being introduced by the coaches. It is the same old game with the same switch to it Ross provided last year & everyone is a wake up to exactly how we will play. So predictable and the truth of last week was that their side wasn't any better but their coach was so far ahead of ours it was unbelievable, he negated every move we made because he & his team were ready for every move. Longmire & his crew didn't know what to do & of course blamed the players yet again, not once has Longmire admitted he got the game plan wrong, NOT ONCE! But Crows, Fremantle, Essendon & Richmond all are proof his game plan fell short, poor kicking aside we should have won all games & isn't poor kicking the fault of the coaching staff, proof they have got it wrong!

No not commitment but if you play out of posie long enough you need to go back & readjust in the resies. He is a totally committed player & a local boy who would die for his footy club. I love LRT but in posie not up front. I think he needs to go back get some confidence in defence then come back because the other week when they played him there he looked lost.

I heard Horse asking for directions to a grassy knoll, too. And when he couldn't find one he went and rioted in London after starting a share stampeded in NYC.

It's interesting that the players are accepting their responsibility for the loss but some fans aren't. They were insipid and pathetic and there seemed a lot more passion in the box than on the ground.
