    Why do you come here?
I come here because I'm a Swans supporter, not just a follower as many here seem to be. I enjoy the debate about how we see players are playing or who is promising or in line for selection. What gets up my nose is the know-it-all attitude of many posters who go from general opinion to ridiculous unsupported statements like "Longmire can't coach", "the selectors are trying to lose the game", "the coaches have favourites", "player X will be now looking to GWS" etc etc at infinitum.

Just for the record, I believe Jetta is lucky to be in the side given his current form and have said so in another thread. However I don't call for the coach's head, or claim Jetta is a favourite. What I assume is that the coaches have a plan in mind and see things we don't see. I also have great faith that their plans are in the best interest of the club I support.

He was looking good in the last quarter last week Al so I can't see that being a problem. I think this first year player getting burned out is a bit overrated. Ok! The game has changed & is faster but I think it is the new sub rule that is giving this perception as I never heard this sort of talk till this year. Let the boy play footy, he proved he could in the last quarter last week & when half or more of our side was falling to pieces he came on and was totally controlled and in command.

That's spot on in my view. It always baffled me that coaches are apparently "idiots" because they have a different view to some. I, like you, like reading posts and threads on the make up of the side and tactics but the name calling does become tedious and doesn't add to the debate at all.

As I said we just don't know how Luke is travelling with fatigue. I'll side with the experienced guys who know the player a lot more than we do.

I promise not to mention any coaches ever again & haven't tonight by the way. I agree with them that there needed to be changes & they made them I just don't agree with the substance of the changes and I think Henry Playfair was thinking that Nipper would get a game this week in his review of the resies match. I do very much value Playfair's opinion as I think he has a very good pulse on the players who are pushing for selection.

I'd be worried if he didn't given he's the Reserves coach. He'll be very happy Nipper was named on the extended bench. Shows he's not far away.

That's a perfectly valid opinion. Debating the merits of the changes is a good thing and and it's enjoyable.

I think Nipper should be playing this week. I just think his pressure and aggression is ready made for AFL footy. Jetta seems to be in a hole at the moment so I'm surprised he's still in the side. However he'd make the perfect sub so maybe that's what they have in store for him.

As for Playfair I agree, he has been impressive in what I've seen from him. However don't discount the influence Crouch and Maxfield have. I recently had the privilege of standing next to the coaches at 2 reserves games at Lakeside and Crouch and Maxfield have a lot of influence over the running of the side. You can see that the youngsters by their body language, hold Crouch, Maxfield and Playfair in the highest regard.

Wouldn't you I wouldn't want to argue with either Stewie or Crouchie & Henry seems to know what it is all about. I think someone could pay for him to get a good hair cut though. At least Roosie had a good hairdresser, between Henry & Horse the side is really let down stylishly

Disappointed with both Parker and Meredith out...why bring him in, in the first place?

So let me get this straight. Its ok to express surprise and disappointment that player X(say Jetta) who demonstrably has given the team very little,is retained while Luke Parker, who has demonstrably given the team a lot is dropped.

However to draw any kind of conclusion from this that the coaches and selectors are making a big mistake is not ok? Yet its ok for you to draw the conclusion that he is tired at this stage of the year?

The whole history of the AFL is full of instances of clubs being brought to their knees by Coaches and selectors making mistakes? Look at the Fevola mistake at the Lions as a recent example. There are countless others. We are meant to "have faith" and think this could not happen at the Swans? Why?

The other thing implicit in your opinion is that the people responsible for the mistake should not be subject to criticism. Why not? Coaches makes mistakes all the time. Its a very tough job because the canvas you are painting and your success at painting it is there for all to see every weekend. Copping criticism for failures simply goes with the territory.

A team where everybody accepts they are accountable, where coaches are accountable too for poor performance, where decision making is transparent is a good team/.

Of course (as supporters too) who want the team to flourish,we have every right to express our opinions on these matters .They are just opinions! Expressing them here is a harmless way to vent our frustration with perceived mistakes. Of course we could be totally wrong but the day we have to stop having a say just because we don,t have reams of proof is the day I will leave here because the discussion will be so boring,

Totally agree with you there, Hartijohn..... bringing out the "hey what right have you got to question the staff?" line....especially when it is done sarcastically and PARTICULARLY when questions are asked about the poster's playing/coaching career.....is the equivalent of throwing in "That's UnAustralian" into a political discourse. It's also playing the man not the ball...ie I can't argue with your post so I will question your right to make it! Otherwise those posters would be saying "I think dropping Parker is a really good idea as he was clearly in our bottom 3 and should pay for last week's abject loss." That would be a crap opinion (IMHO!!!) but at least it would be an actual opinion about the matter at hand....which is the point of the forum.

I have seen very, very little this year that makes me think "Gee, that smells like good coaching to me,"....apart from the selection of Alex Johnson and Sam Reid.

With the wet weather I would have thought Nipper in the forward line would have been a good idea. Hard at it and can sniff out a goal. Anyway all the debate on selections will come to nought unless the team has a red hot crack. If they don't do that it wouldn't matter who they pick.
The only thing Parker is feeling is the splinters from sitting on the bench so often. Stunned that Jetta keeps his place in front of a hard footballer.

I agree. RWO was set up for Swans supporters to exchange ideas and opinions. As long as the rules are obeyed you're free to post what you like.

No where have I said that people shouldn't have an opinion. It's my opinion that the name calling adds nothing to the debate.

I've said before I'm baffled by Jetta playing and Nipper not being promoted. I don't understand why. However I'm not going to call the selectors idiots because I don't agree with their selections.
