This match is right up there as one of the most memorable.

Bartlett won't shut up, he's loving it. "The AFL are a bunch of sheep .... zones ... forward press ... flooding... the Swans come out and play man on man footy and Geelong had no way to deal with the pressure ..."

        Totally massive effort today.
I'm glad we broke their winning streak.

        Well done swannies.
        How I love youse!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Now, that's the Swans I wanna see play. Man, I was doing motorcycle hand-revs at the TV screen all game.

I was my usual grumbly self - "watch, we'll be decimat- oh, we won the first half? Wellll, now's our third quarter nap an- wha..? We're still playing really well! Watch, how will we mess up in the fourth quarter and lo-" when the phone rang with my mum-in-law congratulating us for the Swans' win (we'd had it on our TiVo and so were a little behind on real time). I didn't mind the spoiler, though, given the heartstopping nature of Swans games and my aged, ancient, infirm fragility.

And watching shots of Geelong fans streaming out of the seats early, after a game spent staring in stunned silence (unless shrieking for frees), was pretty fun. A very great game today, after a rollercoaster season!

Emotionally wrung out after watching the game on TV. Hoarse too. Fantastic effort by the team. Love Rohan's ferocity at the ball; Parker was fabulous for a youngster; Goodsey, well he was Goodsey; and Mumford = sensational. Fantastic game to see and would have loved to have been there. So proud of our club. Love ya Swannies.

Spot on Bas, that was a massive smother. I was right behind it in that stand and it was very close. Could of easily gone the other way. Again the cats fans were going crazy, every time Goodes took a mark the guy standing next to me would say "Thats worth 2 Brownlow votes!" we were getting right into each other at the end haha

You bloody beauty!!! And to think I wasn't going to bother coming after the Richmond debacle. Just goes to show the value of keeping the faith.

                      Go Swannies!

Hard to believe just 2 weeks ago there was so much angst and despair about where we are as a club. Things can turn around quickly in footy you just got to have faith. I admit I thought they'd have an honorable loss today but I shouldn't be surprised at what this club is capable of.

                        Anyway, more driving to do.

So looking forward to the replay and reading every comment when I get home.

Go the boys!!!! Ohhh yeeaaahhhh!!!! One of the joys of my life - finding a sporting team that has this much passion and culture. God I love 'em. And what about my boy Gazza! And Lukey Parker throwing himself at everything. Today is a good day people!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Wow! I'm on my way home, hoarse, exhausted and jubilant! Only a few days ago I was lamenting how since moving south at the end of 06 I'd seen a bare handful of limping victories, a couple of draws and a raft of insipid efforts. Even on the odd occasion I get back to Sydeny, I never see them win! I was contemplating not going at all today, but boy oh boy am I glad I did! I was a bundle of nerves all match but it was so sweet to watch all 22 put in the effort! I can't recall seeing them chase and tackle so fiercely in years. Every contest you knew we weren't going to give up and it was brilliant to watch! Then the siren going... Oh how sweet to belt out that song and see the players so happy they'd gusted it out, played 4 quarters, and done it for Jarrad.

I'd forgotten how good this feeling is! Thank you Swannies, my faith is restored!

A great, great win by the boys. They played so well, it was a joy to watch.

You could tell during the song that it meant a lot to them. I believe ROK was red-faced and teary. Very emotional.
