Why would he? Did something bad happen to Barry last week? Was his book remaindered or pulped? Bad haircut?

No not at all, and it was quite probably a case of the other two being fathers and feeling more empathy toward McVeigh then Hall would have even realised, but I don't like the way he has conducted himself in relation to our club, so this was just another example of Barry being all about Barry in my eyes.
In other words, a chance for me to stick the boot in rightly or wrongly!

I believe wrongly, but you're honest enough to admit it, so fairy nuff.

I didn't think of Sean. I suppose there may be a few others too.

We had the Ainslie players wearing black arm bands as a mark of respect so I would have thought that all ex team mates of Maccas would have done the same thing. I'm not going to be too critical because it was their choice but I do find that choice a little strange.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I think it's more likely that they just didn't think about it as opposed to making a 'choice' not to wear one.

You'd think Schneids may have reminded Sean, but you know what, players where black armbands just about every other week for one reason or another and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Schneids wore it in memory of some distant family member who passed away during the week...

That was really what I was trying to say but you said it far more eloquently than I ever possibly could thank you Al.

The entire GWS team wore black arms bands -

"GIANTS players have chosen to wear black arm bands today as a show of solidarity for fellow NSW footballer Jarrad McVeigh" (from Twitter)

I thought it was a really nice touch

Go easy on them!!, once footballers get into match day environment, they can become so focused on their role and match day habits it could be very easy to forget to put a black arm band on if your whole team wasn't. Wearing a black arm band is a sign of respect, not wearing one doesn't equal disrespect in the slightest.

You're absolutely right, but to some extent I was surprised that Barlow/Hall/Dempster didn't especially when Vesz and Schnides did. Rationally it is their prerogative and isn't fair to criticise them because they didn't, but you would have thought that as former teammates they would have been compelled to do so...

It makes no difference really, but those who did wear armbands or expressed their sympathies in other ways should be thanked and appreciated for their compassion and respect.

I'm sure they had their reasons, I honestly believe none of them made a concious decision not to wear one as a sign of respect/disrespect.

Who know's how they are conducting themselves privately with Jarrad, and none of us have the right to judge whilst being so removed.

Personally, if I was playing I'd hate wearing a black armband. Bloody thing would be all sticky and annoying (not to mention how it would constrict my bulging biceps ). If I was an AFL player I'd probably opt not to wear one and pass on my condolences in private. But then, I'm a little bit obsessive-compulsive. It wouldn't surprise me if some players are like that though, especially given how superstitious some are.

Not that I think that would be why Dempster/Hall/Vesz/Barlow/any other ex Swans didn't wear one. Probably just didn't occur to them.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

They're not bad at all to wear armbands. If they get too annoying or anything at one of the breaks all you do is take it off, and tape around another spot.

Anyone see Stokes kiss his armband when he kicked a goal for Geelong in the 2nd quarter?
