Reid/White/Spangher (Goodes at times) with Parker and Rohan sniffing around amongst others. With kids like Chops Lamb due for some more game time next year suddenly we are starting to look more stable up front. Hopefully Jesse and Spang continue to build and we might just begin to put somre more scoreboard pressure on. As has been mentioned already I would really like to see one of Sam or Jesse kick 4 or 5 this weekend, take some strong leading marks and slot it through.

It seems that our intensity inside 50 with regards to pressure has improved as well with Gary up front, Spang throwing himself at everything and Jesse showing some toe as well. It's crucial we lock the ball in because over the last few months we were starting to get burnt real bad by teams on the rebound. We were still probably a little fortunate last week at times when the Cats players fumbled and stumbled their way through some lost opportunities.

I'm liking it though - loving Benny Mac's attack on the ball last week as well. Because of his size he was copping highs left, right and centre. A bit more time out of the middle for Ben and we could be getting some good clean ball delivered more often to the guys up front.

Can't wait for tomorrow and looking forward to week 1. Would dearly love a Week 1 Final in Sydney I must admit. Carn the Bloods!
+1 Just need to slide TDL in somehow as well for a really potent forward line

          Like for like swap?

So if correct, in 2010 Reid plays just one game - the last H&A of the year against the Brions. In 2011, Reid plays all but one game - the last H&A of the year against the Brions.

If true, I hope it's resting and not injured.
If true, Spangher to FF, Rohan to HFF, Jetta to bench and may be sub. Not a bad outcome in my book, although I imagine people would rather see Chops or Gordon in.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I wouldn't be surprised if they took this week as a time to give him a rest. It's been a long year for him.

Voss is such a turd. It really would not have hurt him to have given Amon the game this week so he at least gets to finish his career in front of people who appreciate his past endeavours.
I know there's no room in footy for sentiment, but really, including Amon as a run on player tomorrow night would not alter the final result in any way and might at least show that Voss has some small similation of a heart in there somewhere..

I admired Voss as a player but he's not much a person as he shows with just about everything he's done as a coach. Braddy two years ago, Power last week. Amon this week.

Agree, Voss is brutal - maybe something we are unaware of, but selling out on quality past players for no apparent upside is mind blowing IMO. Surely there is a line between making a tough call and denying a player a farewell opportunity.

I would have thought the Braddie situation greatly favoured the Lions in hindsight. They got another spot on their list and we got a player with a degenerative knee. Power just resigned,we don't know the details so Voss's involvement is speculation.

Amon, possibly my favourite Swan in both GF's,well he is a Lion now and moved on. He can't make the best 22 and who he used to play for is irrelevant from the Lions perspective of trying to field their best team and salvage some pride from the season.. Its unfortunate for the Swans fans but really why should Voss care?

Couldn't agree more. What do they have to gain with a win anyway?

Braddy was put up for trade for Fev - and that's an insult to a great Lions player. The injury that ended his Swans career was incurred playing with the Swans. I can only presume you didn't see the Power and Voss "retirement" interview - a more unwilling participant I've never seen - even saying I called him one more time to try to get a change of mind.

Amon might be just a bit player for the Lions but one gets the feeling that Voss wouldn't let Brown have a farewell match if he thought he had a better idea. You may think it's good tough leadership. I'm just enjoying watching the way it's biting him on the arse and how it has reduced a once great team to a sideshow.

So Voss got Power to retire. How do we know that is not in the best interest of the club? Some of our older players hung on for one season too many and copped criticism for losing games. Voss has clearly made mistakes but I do not think retiring Power ,getting rid of Braddie or not playing My favourite player in Monty as particularly bad mistakes. Its just doing the coaches job as he sees it should be done. Time will tell if it was good or bad.
