Besides anything rational, Three Tommies! It would all be a bit too much.

Agree with Bas though on Nason, have no idea why (except he looks like an LOTR elf) but I like him.

      Dear all,

I've been offline for almost a week and missed all the trade excitement. From reading all the posts, it sounds like a very good result. My hope was that we would get some more speed into our midfield. I don't know much about any of our newbies - do any of them do this for us?? If not, this would be my criticism ... have we now got a list to match it with the faster midfields in the comp?? On the other hand, sounds like good work done in the forward line. How many days to round 1, 2012????

Morton and Armstrong are both quick enough, and are also quick of mind, and good users of the ball. If they can get a spot in the senior team, our ball movement will be much quicker and better. Of course, they both have obstacles to overcome in order to achieve that, but we wouldn't have got them for what we did if they didn't.

So to answer your question, yes. We didn't recruit any super-duper, Jetta/Rohan style, raw footspeed, but our HB/midfield/HF line will be much quicker and slicker with an in form Armstrong and Morton gracing them. Here's hoping they work out!

            2011 retirements and delistings.

Swans have retired/traded/delisted ten players, equal third with Hawks behind Freo and Crows (11 each). We're equal second with Dons on most retirements (three). Geelong had five.
By comparison, Pies lost just one player (L. Brown).

While I was thinking we had done a lot of list restructure in the past couple of years, Longmire and co have done a bit of major surgery this year too. That's more than a quarter of the list gone.

            Breakdown:
            3 retirements
            1 traded
            3 delisted (senior list)
            3 delisted (rookie list)

Pies have also lost Leon Davis who I believe has retired.

Have I been asleep or has Nathan Gordon's elevation gone unmentioned on here?

                Well done Nipper.

Retired is a nice way of putting it.

Brad dick is the kind of player that would suit the swans forward line, assuming he can recover from injuries. I wonder if he will nominate for the November draft or PS draft and if we would show any interest?.

Brad Dick - very classy player. But too much of a risk with his shoulders.

Rookie draft picks list just come out and we have 9 selections along with GC, most other teams around 5. Is it worked out based on the number of spots we have left that we could fill, or do we nominate how many picks we want?

I'm not sure how many, but I think there is a minimum quota to fill.
Given our last 3 picks are in the last 5 of the rookie draft, ie in the 90's...following on from a shallow main draft...I'm not getting too excited.

I wonder if some of those late picks may be used to lock in eligible NSW players before the draft? Maybe the ressie watchers favourite Kane Muphy may get a spot.

We do have a recent track record of not filling our quota of rookie spots but I would think we'd try non NSW players with at least our first two picks. There are about 15-20 players available that look worth a try. Don't forget that we have had success in the past with rookies picked deep into the Rookie Draft, as have most clubs so I'll be annoyed if we don't grab at least a couple.
