He'll be a handy pick up for a suburban side.

Just goes to show the best athletes don't always make good footballers.........I hope Ed has a fair dinkum crack at Athletics now. He's the right age and London is just around the corner............I wonder how many Swans players have won Olympic medals ????

It's a little bit of one. He was far from the worst running around with the Bulldogs this year. He's probably unlucky that Eade got the bullet as the new coach obviously didnt like what he saw

I have surmised before that attitude had a great deal to do with his playing/not playing. He has a big laconic country lad persona, which does not appear to have translated into what is required yet. Academically I understand he is not too bad, so maybe he has made a choice.

                  Campbell Heath

Contrary to suggestion on here, Cambo is training with the club again, beginning tomorrow if the club's website can be trusted...

Ed was actually pretty good for the Bulldogs in a few games this year, I seem to recall (but can't be bothered looking it up and verifying) that he had an untimely injury in the middle of some decent form in the seniors that otherwise may have cemented him a spot for next year.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I thought Barlow was really impressive in a couple of games I saw; among their best. Obviously he just couldn't earn a spot regularly, and that was his downfall.

                      Shame.

Must have been different games to the ones I watched. Although technically he could have been amongst their best considering they were so bad this year.

Ed Barlow, had the height to be a key position player, but not the build or the presence. Had the stamina to be a midfield player, but not the skill, guts or determination.

Could only play flank or wing and there are too many players ahead of his for those spots.

Yep it didn't matter where he played, he was terrible everywhere.

Glad you said that Bas cause I thought I must be nuts when I read what a few others on here had written. I watched the games he played for the dogs and I thought he was very ordinary, or should I say very typically Ed, do one or two good things then go missing for ages and soooooooo easily knocked out of a contest.

I'm surprised Ed lasted this long in the AFL system. He was a terrific athlete but a terrible footballer.
