+1 to all the sentiments on this thread.

I wish he'd been given a chance to play one last game, and that we'd all known beforehand. He deserved a good chairing off the field for his services to the Swans.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

I'm sure he gets a proper send off at the first home game next year. Unfortunately, only the big stars get the fairy tale ending or those that choose to retire voluntarily.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Bevo gave his guts every time he ran out. He wrung out more than 120 games with minimal footy talent and smarts, and many of us called for his head every other week. If one put Nick Davis talent with Bevo's attitude Judd & co would be second rate in comparison. On a personal note, my life expectancy increased yesterday by 5 years.

Time for him to move on but you'd never question the commitment or heart of the fella. Best of luck.

What are we down to in terms of premiership champs now? Goodes, LRT, ROK, Jude, - an that really be all? Sure I've missed one.

You are too tough and too young be lost to the AFL.Those softies at Melbourne could do with you on board.

It still rankles that , after such a fine game in the finals v Carlton last year , you were dropped next week for the Dogs game.
That may not have been the only factor in our loss , but I am certain it was one of them.
            Still rankles with me too.
IF GWS has half a brain, they would draft him for his physical example. However, given Sheedy is in charge, that's a very big if.
            Thanks Bevo.

Fantastic gutsy player! I admired your committment to the hard ball and what you lacked in finesse you made up for in courage. You were the kind of player every player likes to have beside them in a hard contest because you always gave your best. IMO you were the perfect defensive forward but were played in defence where any slight mistake was harshly penalised. You WERE robbed of another final . You will be missed by supporters and even critics many of whom acknowledge your courage.

I have never seen any Swans player that hit in the tackle with quite the ferocity of Paul, his bodywork on Sampi quite ruined the eagles day in the 05 premiership. He had his detractors and his limitations, but heart wasn't one of them. In a team of hard nuts he was possibly the hardest. It seems only a short while ago we were discussing this redheaded kamikaze standout rookie in the reserves, I'm sad to see him go. So thanks for the memories.

I have no idea what goes through Sheedy's mind, but from a purely marketing point of view, having the grandson of rugby league's alltime greatest pointscorers in your squad could be a big plus, and that's without taking into consideration the value of Pauls ferocity in a team of schoolboys about to take on men.

Bevo, as a forward, was at times close to the only player who could be counted on to take a grab and kick a goal for us. In particular in the past couple of years. He should have played there a lot more often than down back in my opinion, and would still have something to offer particularly for a GWS side thats forward line consists of ( so far anyway) Chad Cornes and whatever skinny potential KPP superstars they pick up in the draft. They could do a lot worse than having Bevo down there not only for his physical pressure but his ability to clunk one and convert the goal. So could we, for that matter.

Good luck Bevo and i hope you get another gig elsewhere. You deserve one.

While Bevo wasn't one of my favourite players, I deeply appreciate what he's done at the Swans. He was hard and willing, and while he wasn't the most talented players, he certainly gave the club as much as he could. Sad to see him go out like this and I wish him all the best in trying to find a new home. As others have mentioned GWS would be stupid not to take him for his sheer hardness if not experience.

Followed Paul's career since his early days at West Juniors - always played that tough, uncompromisng style of footy. He is one of the true blood brothers. Looking forward to see Paul's career continue somewhere else.

Me as well. Just Can't see why, for mine he was the difference against Carlton that day. TDL had a moment here and there. But for pressure all day and conversion Bevo for mine.

People take shots at him for skills etc, but he was a fantastic long kick, tackler, could take a mark. His effort and heart outweighed his short comings for mine. But that's just me.

This thread was clearly set up to farewell Paul Bevan from the club. Any criticisms of Bevan should be addressed in the delistings thread or started in a new thread.

Well done for restating the thread purpose. Congrats Bev on a sterling career with us. You are a BLOOD!

Rather than start a new thread, I just thought I'd pass on some info on Paul Bevan to his many fans (and I was definitely one of them).
Bevo has been named captain of the Perth Demons in the WAFL this season, and today produced a match-winning game for his team. 27 possessions, 9 marks and 6 goals. Great stuff Bevo!

Kristin Thornton, by the way, kicked three for Peel Thunder in another loss on Good Friday.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

                                YOU BETCHA!!!!!!
