If the umpires would protect Reid and Mummy we would be a lot further in front.
How can they be mauled and the (laughable) commentators don't mention it !

Its been a while but I think the combination of BT and Richo means that they have sunk to a new low in talent.
Can't name players and can't call play .... Why are they there ? No insightful comments ??
No tactics other than push up "the GWS kids are giving it a go" ... which includes praising and "I don't mind a bit of that" for late head high tackles...

Hope we kick away a bit more in the second half.
Almost every time it goes to a one on one contest in our forward line the GWS player is holding. I also think we should be going straight up the centre rather than taking half a dozen kicks around the boundary to get it forward. It is allowing them to get 21 players back.

Can't believe how physically advanced the Giants are. More than holding their own in the clinches. Doesn't excuse some of our poor play though. When we get free there's either no target presenting or the target is being missed. Hopefully it's just Rd1 cobwebs against an opponent playing as though it's life depended on it.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I get what you mean about over possessing with handballs. From what I recall we were actually a side that used very little handball last year. However the *cough*often illegal*cough* pressure GWS have put around the contest and ballcarrier have forced us to try and find a player with space and push one to many hand passes.
Funny how 2 people can see it diffently. I think Jack has been tentative and has been caught almost every time he has got it. Seems to me his kicking has been scrappy and inaccurate at best.

The umpires really are helping GWS - we should kick away in the second half.

Must be footy season again - the agonising negativity is back on the match day thread.... :-)

They are either making us look slow or we have lost yards in pace as a team over the summer.

Its a good thing we're playing against the newbies, because if it was any other team, we'd be getting smashed.
Theres only one way they can go from here, up.

                Carn Swans!!

I am still so pissed off that both bt and the afl as it is now on their website are commending a head high shoulder from Mcdonald, its just not on anymore no matter the situation.

We have a young kid called rhyce conca that did the same thing in the nab cup and everyone hated him for it, and then we get a guy that is 2 years passed his playing days coming in and smashing a young player in the face is unacceptable.
Agree on both points. Everitt doesn't have the physical presence, height or contested ability. He does not at all suit the role he's been made to play.

I found that Luke Parker knock sickening and the fact they couldn't get enough of it pissed me off incredibly. He didn't have the ball it was clearly to the shoulder and it should have been a free kick.

Hopefully its just cobwebs, please be that. Unlike the swans this commentary team cannot improve (except kirky) BT was a joke on fox footy, nothing has changed.
