I'm wondering if Rohan has the body to play AFL or if he's just a bit of a sook?
i doubt it, he just kept getting up and doing his thing, hardly a sook from where i stand..Continues the bloods tradition, just keep getting up and going hard for the ball.
He didn't shy away form any contest (ala Everitt), the only thing i say is the knocks got the better of him towards the end, but only a yng guy and i dont care about his body with his speed...

      Positives for me
Jetta's defensive efforts so much better than his usual fare. Still has scope for improvement but coupled with some of his attacking forays it was one of his best games for the club
Kizza back to his very best. Even after he returned from his injury last year he was often played away from his usual onball role and his contributions were limited. He was back to his hardworking game tonight
Teddy continuing his imperious form from last year. Has excellent judgement in knowin when to go for the mark and when to go for the spoil.

      Bad points
Fumbling fumbling all night although we should give the Giants a lot of credit for their pressure. It's already been noted that they are much better set up than the Suns last year and this should come as no surprise as any Sheedy and Choco coached team are always well drilled
Rohan's going to be in and out of the injury list a lot. The way he plays just isn't compatible with his body, he's going to end up hurting himself a lot
Reid's kicking for goal. Enough said
Everitt way too soft Chad just ate him up all night. Not sure if we have anything better in the reserves.

I Thought GWS were far more fierce at the footy than we were.
Reid isn't slow he beat Rohan and Jetta in 20m sprint during draft camp. Davis played him well and Cornea likewise with Everitt by continually positioning themselves in front of them. Im not sure if it was obvious on tv but when the swans had the ball the whole of the Giants team had flooded back to block the space. I think we missed the dash of Shaw tonight he would have helped open things up a little

I wanted to throw something at the players in that final quarter. It was obvious the message was to shut shop at 3/4 but the way they did it. Yep enough said.

That and the umpire Mollison. Think he wants to take over the mantle of let's see how many times I can get myself on TV.

Definitely think we missed Shaw (as mentioned above).

In terms of GWS they showed that they've got the potential to push some teams this season, definitely would back them in the clash against Gold Coast when they get their other senior players back.

Which is what concerns me. We have many players who play that way and survive far better. He needs to toughen up a bit or change the way he attacks things.

I thought TDL was quite good in the reserves but Jesse was Jesse.

No they did but as you know the jump from reserves to seniors is quite a large gap and one good showing in the NEAFL doesn't mean they have automatically improved upon their deficiencies

They're not going to win many games by playing 18 men in the backline. They may avoid some of the shellackings that Gold Coast received but they won't score many goals by relying on the odd break from the backline.

Having said that, it was a decent first up effort from them, and they kept playing for the whole four quarters. I thought they would tire as the game went on but it wasn't evident they were any more tired than the Swans.

It's sad how my of us here know EXACTLY what you mean Al with this last three words. Poor Jesse.

got a soft spot for TDL, hope he gets another go.

Indeed doesn't Everitt do quite well when in the reserves?

[They can take something from winning the final quarter two goals to one, but the Swans had lost interest by then.]

This is from an artical on the herald sun site and is a sad comment on a team that should be trying to get a good start on % for the season and so many times we have been told by Sydney that 4 quarter efforts is whats needed to be a better team.

Agree about the flooding, I was referring more to them not getting the same kind of whippings that GC did in their first season. The full preparation they've had definitely helped in their favour for a first game.

But it would have been good if we hadn't shut up shop in the final quarter. Because then we could have tested the fatigue factor of GWS players, but because we introduced even more errors and slowed down it allowed GWS to push up and win that final quarter by a point.

That reminds me was LRT playing our second ruckman tonight when Mummy was off the ground? Because I hardly saw anyone but Mummy playing in the ruck.

Funnily enough I just read Ugg and Liz's reserves report and they praise Jesse so maybe I'm being too tough. (the amount of times Ugg has ever been wrong you can count on one hand).
