Give it a rest KR. It was an historic moment which deserves acknowledgement. If that supporter clapped every goal then maybe you have a case. Like Scott I'll acknowledge good play (admittedly it needs to be spectacular for me to clap an opposition play) I clapped the great mark late in 3rd qtr from defensive GWS player. It was a terrific mark.

Disclaimer: The above doesn't apply to Collingwood. I wouldn't clap that lot even if they solved world peace.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

The problem is not the winning margin it's the fact that we barely scored 100 points!
Almost did our favourite trick of not scoring a goal in a qtr.

Agree with all the comments the commentary was horrendous.

Funny how the ratings are unavailable for Sydney anywhere.

More people at the ground than watching on TV?

While we didn't play well in hindsight 100 points against a team playing 40 players behind the ball isn't a bad effort.

I'm happy enough with the win, and I clapped a few times when GWS did some good stuff, including their first goal. I'm all for sporting gestures and applauding good play at times.

However I am with Big Al re Collingwood and would never clap them. Well perhaps when one of their supporters gets a job and a full set of teeth, and we know how unlikely that is to occur...

Not even a golf clap for world peace?

If that is in fact true then we can forget about making the finals this year then. It's like when Paul Chambers played for us, we are effectively playing one man short when Everitt is on the ground.

At least Chambers gets come credit for having a bit of mongrel about him even if he was short on skills

I can understand 7 screening games on 7 Mate this year but I'd have thought this one would be worth screening on the main channel. There is NO excuse for commentators not knowing the names of the players or not giving their analytical opinion. That's their job. TV networks in this country are appalling in their tolerance for low standard commentary from so many of their lead match callers and colour guys. It's so frustrating, across all sports, not just the AFL.

The game itself, from Bay 126, was similar to the way it has been described by others who've gone before me. In summary:-

                        - The GWS song is great, but I had the bloody thing stuck in my head for 24 hours after the game.
                        - Ted's performance was under rated by too many
                        - I hate to admit it, but Cornes was very good
                        - Was the GWS flood referred to as negative or ugly?
                        - Our forward line is either not up to it or the delivery is not up to it, or perhaps a little of both
                        - We didn't get a lot of change from the umpires
                        - Jetta was very good
                        - You don't realise how good a job JPK does when you're at the game as you do on TV
                        - I didn't clap any GWS goal, nor would I unless it was as good as Peter Crouch's for Stoke CIty
                        - The Swans members' bar being open was awesome, as was our seats being handily close to it

In an era of world peace, there would be no Collingwood.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

Ah good point... If that happened I'd clap until my hands fell off.

I have to admit my mates and I were doing Russian dancer impersonations when that song was being played.

I clapped GWS "moments" as they were good "moments" from a seriously babyfaced club. First senior AFL game anywhere.

I also applaud baby's first steps, even though baby is not mine.

However, all bets are off now, and I doubt I will applaud another GWS "moment". Not unless it is truly spectacular (like when Ottens from Geelong took a blinder over Jolly....face it , it was a winner of a mark).

I am working out my GWS rivalry now, its not an automatic thing, it has to grow. I am nurturing it nicely though. Starting with Cornes, how dare he be that good!
