Everitt and LRT

With Spangher and Rohan in the side late last year we made it into the finals and won a game. Everitt just doesn't have the goods to make it as a forward player. His efforts tonight were
cavalier for someone who really needs to lift to get a game. I would have played Pyke in that position tonight. He would have made a better selection."Play like you can’t lose."Comment

While you're here though Ugg is Jed Lamb pushing for selection? From lat year I've been watching Darling and thinking this kid could have been the answer to our prayers. Reid and Darling in the forward line...what could have been!Comment

I think TDL missed a fair chunk of the pre-season. The couple of times I popped into training post Christmas he was doing a little running on his own but not part of the main session. So he probably wasn't ready for the early NAB cup games, and the reserves played for the first time today.
Based on his outing this afternoon (and the ongoing issues with the senior forward line) I think we'll see him in the seniors before very long. He kicked seven goals but wasn't playing as a stay-at-home forward. He even started in the centre square for a number of bounces, and to be found all over the ground. While he is likely to stay closer to goal at senior level, there were very good signs that his fitness has improved. And while he didn't look much bulkier than in previous seasons, his tackling was very good today.Comment

Spang is injured. That's why he didn't play. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund BurkeComment

Everitt is a hack id rather veszpremi back. LRT is a great backman who is playing fwd for some reason.
Still reids goal kicking and hanneberry going missing concern me moreTheres not much left to sayComment

I didn't mind LRT in the forward line tonight. A friend said that 'he's playing in the forward line as a defender'. I think there could be worse things. He created chances for our smaller runners. Like it or not, that seems to be our style and it's okay in my book, at least until a better alternative comes along (Pyke, resurgent White etc).Comment

LRT actually wasn't as bad as has been made out. It would have been nigh on impossible to have an effective forward line set up given the defensive mindset of GWS. He had a presence, kicked a goal... No, he is not the long-term answer as a permanent key forward but he could prove pretty useful as someone who can play both ends of the ground and be thrown into the ruck.
Yes, he's ungainly, which doesn't sit well with many on here, but he generally holds his own.
No such dispute with the comments on Everitt....Comment

I thought LRT as always competed well. He is limited up forward in terms of what he will offer, but he will offer a genuine contest 10 times out of 10 and despite his awkwardness is actually half skilled with the ball.
But as for Everitt- I thought he was generally just awful tonight. He just doesn't offer anything for me - I expect he won't be in the team when Spangher is fit, but I'd most certainly play TDL instead of him with Spangher not fit - TDL can't be any less useful then Everitt was tonight. At least he is a genuine forward option that can kick goals - I watched the second half of the ressies and thought TDL played well, and as commented by more astute viewers on here, he was all around the ground today."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
