The Swans site merely says Goodes has been offered the one game, so there may be a challenge.

If we lose then we lose Goodes for the Hawthorn match.

I agree with you... as Dunstall said during commentary, he'd be far more dangerous staying on his feet.

It's a no brainer then. Off to the judiciary we go,
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

            Don't think so.
He would loose the 25% early plea discount, which would leave him on 180 odd points....1 match and 80 odd carry over points.

I have seen lots of opinions on Goodes' slide, mainly negative in other quarters, but haven't seen or heard anybody suggest an alternative to what he should have done in the incident.

              Anybody??

Take the 1 game ban and move on, thats the rules unfortuneately. I think we can still cover north with goodsey out, especially at the SCG. Bring in TDL as the replacement.

Goodes out, Everitt in - it's a like for like swap.

As I said earlier. Dunstall suggested he should of kept his feet, and Lynch agreed.
Not sure if this was at all possible. But that was their alternative

To be totally honest, I'd prefer no weeks for any of them.

Lake wouldn't have knocked the skin off a rice pudding with his short jab, obviously borne from frustration and probably somebody getting in his face like Petrenko did last week (I have to admit only seeing the Lake punch on highlights, no leadup). By all means come down hard on behind the play king hits and massive hits like Barry's which render the victim unconscious or with a broken jaw/teeth etc. but Lake and Scarlett's short jabs on players who were standing there looking at them face to face are only worthy of a free and a 50.

I don't think it's a powder puff game - just ask Luke Breust from Hawthorn's game on the weekend. Or Joel Selwood from the weekend before. Or Luke Parker from round 1. I certainly wouldn't have the guts, even if I did have the skill, to go out there and throw myself around like those guys do. I'm not attacking your post, but I think it's easy for us to underestimate the sheer amount of courage it takes these guys to play this game.

NRL is currently going through similar issues in terms of what offences are part and parcel of a tough game and what should be rubbed out, as a number of players have recently been baanned for shoulder charges. There will always be a fine line of what is acceptable and what's not in contact sports.

I think Goodesy was unlucky here but I guess we just need to accept it and move on. I thought Keiran Jack would have been the one to worry about from the weekend so there you go......

But just keep your feet and run in means either hitting the player high and giving away a free as he slides into your legs or possibly copping a leg injury yourself. Just an easy out for the commentators to not have to actually think.

All I saw in the incident was BOTH players sliding in legs first, Surjan getting there a split second before Goodes and Goodes collect him in the side with his knees as Surjan slid around. It could easily have been Goodes copping the knees from Surjan if they sort of twisted in a different direction as they slid in.

IMO they must contest it. I would have contested it even if it meant an extra week. As it stands and no further penalty, it truly is a no-brainer.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from Port Adelaide
I want to see this "medical report" for the Goodes incident...

PA Doctor - "Surjans legs were still in tact and functioning normally, however there were some brown marks near the area of impact, upon closer inspection it seems Surjan has defecated in his pants after seeing Goodes sliding towards him like a freight train"
