I think ROK is still getting fit after his injury so deserves more time - he has good wet weather form and a big body that we will need against the Roos

Agree, and given we lose Goodes, he is one that must step up this week.

If ROK doesn't step up this week then things will be interesting....

ROK's game last weekend might not land up in his highlights package, but he still got 16 possessions, playing primarily in the forward line, converted the set shot he had, and was in the right place at the right time to make certain of a goal at a time when it was needed. Far from a poor contribution, and I am very confident there were no players running around for the magoos who could have been counted on to make a better contribution.

Melbourne is a PERFECT example of why you should never move on the oldies before their time is up.

Spot on Liz. Talk of dropping him are ridiculous.

Why would you drop a player for fitness who is running into fitness in teh game and obviously improving with each run? Seems silly to me

Who is going to play on Brent Harvey this weekend with Smith out? Rhyce Shaw?

I don't think Smith would have played on Harvey in any case. He would probably have taken Thomas. Either Shaw or Jack will probably play on Harvey, probably with a relatively hard tag because it can make a significant difference to North when Harvey's influence is kept under control. Jack has played quite well on him previously.

Wells is the other to keep on a leash. Shaw, or maybe Bird might take him. Shaw could be required for Thomas, in Smith's absence, but I think Thomas might be too good overhead for Shaw. Maybe Mattner or AJ will take Thomas.

He was probably bought back into the side too early after injury but he's had 2 and a bit games under his belt now and is a quality player easily in our best 22, talk of dropping him is ridiculous

Does Everitt hold his spot if its wet? Cant see him being much use to us in a tough wet slog. However his height may be needed in defence ( though he is a terrible defender, this is a tricky one).

I wouldn't play Everitt in the wet, for me the game is won and lost in the midfield, especially in the wet and on the SCG. We need more grunt, better off with the low centre of gravity players in the wet. The SCG is though, a great drainage ground, so if it stops or lets up it won't be all that wet. I'd hate to be on match committee

Boomer has had a different role so far this year, ostensibly playing off HB to provide run and carry. Shaw could follow him up wherever he goes but McGlynn is also an option if Harvey reprises this role on Sunday.

Also possibly Bird, he's slower than Shaw but I think Longmire set him for Pearce last week.
