I was for bringing Nipper in this week because Richmond are very good at setting up from defence like Adelaide. Nipper puts lots of pressure on and delivers on the scoreboard. I like TDL and think the knockers can go to heck! Drey needs a week or so in the 2's as does Shaw and ROK! Lets not just put it on the newbies here. Some of our older guys have been @@@@e for a while. ROK was ok last week but before he was crap and I realise that was because he was coming back from injury but that is what the reserves are for, coming back from injury! Rhyce was crap tonight he was absolutely killed! He hasn't got big numbers in the last few weeks but his opposites have been kept to under 20 posies. Today his opposite got heaps and he got jack @@@@e! So why look at only a few players who haven't been n for more than one match. Why not a few that have including Macca!

Yes, Eddie dislikes us immensely, he was the one who moaned until all our concessions were gone and continued to moan about teh extra salary cap for the higher cost of living in Sydney. I didn't like his call of the match much, but if we are going to have Roos calling games we have to expect it will go the other way sometimes

The commentators were barracking for Richmond right from the start. But I guess they are many people's second team just because they feel sorry for them (or they like the song). It was irritating, but not as irritating as watching our boys butcher the ball all afternoon, even after they managed to start getting their hands on it. Jetta did a few nice things but was a bit wasteful compared to how he's been so far this year.

Have to give credit to the Tigers, though, Their intensity in the first quarter was outstanding and they just denied our lads the ball. But they did tire and gave the Swans a chance to get back into things. If we had some semblance of a functioning forward line we might well have been level at 3/4 time, and then who knows what might have happened.

The umpiring was certainly frustrating to watch, but probably so for both sides. I generally like games where the umpires let play flow and don't play soft fees, but Marty being clearly dragged off the ball, Smith's head being dumped into the ground, Reid being blatantly shepherded away from marking contests, and numerous HTBs that would be clear cut frees in other games were all let go.

I thought the defence held up pretty well in the first half given the pressure they were under, but they were a little disappointing in the final quarter. But then, the midfield intensity had dropped off so I guess it was easy pickings for the Tigers.

Hard to find many Swans outside the defence who had even passable games. JPK was our best, with Jack not too far behind. I thought Hanners worked hard all afternoon without too much reward.

The umpiring wad awful, but not against the swans, just in general. I could not count the incorrect disposals which were let go.

And..... Ahem.. Cough how about the mark to the tigers that was not paid in first quarter!!! Even Ted had conceded it.

I wouldn't say White is soft but boy he has to be a better forward option than Everitt. I don't back off on my opinion that TDL is soft but again he offers a hell of a lot more than Everitt. Surely Morton must get a gig after 8 goals today in the 2's.

Really suffering with the loss of Mumford. Seaby doesn't give a contest at centre bounces. Jumps too early and rarely gets a tap to advantage and has little or no follow up when the ball hits the deck. Not to mention his poor overhead marking.

Swans not great overall, and i was incredibly insulted we were not favourites with the bookies.

Umpires (in particular to most of Riewoldts goals and some holding the ball decisions against the swans when the game was in the balance) @@@@E!

TDL was fine he does what a forward should do, mark and kick goals. ( for those that think he didnt do much on the richmond spread, well FFS he shouldnt have to do anything, the delivery from the mids was @@@@) we cant just bomb it forward, it just doesnt work. He is the replacement for Benny McGlynn in my opinion and i love little Benny, but he just is not delivering!

Jessy White just doesnt deliver, he should be awesome but he isnt. ( i was a believer but am now a doubter)

                  AJ is awesome.

Everitt? Why oh why do we persist?

Sammy Reid is still a gun although having a rough patch, even Carey in his prime wouldnt have done much with the kind of delivery we are dishin up.

My conclusion: We miss Mummy desperately and cant afford to not have our best 22 if we want to be contenders this year.

Agree, but Morton must chase and.... Spread better than TDL. Otherwise agree completely.

I saw that and I also saw Nahas pull out badly from a contest.

The difference - practically all of our other players have runs on the board - they may have bad nights but you can point to an overall history of contributing something. White has nothing - just chance after chance after chance where he fails to deliver anything. Is there a forward in the AFL that averages so few possessions, tackles, goals? i suspect not....
The usual criticisms of white. I'll watch the game again. But if he was in our worst half dozen from what I saw I will go he'. I'd happily stick with Bolton, malceski, mcglynn, mcveigh, Richards, everitt. Bolton butchered the ball when we had chances in the third and fourth quarters, mal looked proppy but was weak in contests, mcglynn both butchered the ball and failed to make an impact, mcveigh was beaten too often in one on ones but at least tried to pass the ball and everitt got beaten in one on ones easily.

In truth I could go on. Seaby ?shaw ? Hanners butchered the ball going inside fifty at least three times and one of those times was right in front of me where he failed to hit Seaby who was in acres of space.

I'll stick with my usual defence. When he plays on the ball he gives more than lrt. Up forward he doesn't get outmarked. I watched him chase and mark foley in the second quarter for 100 m when the rest of our midfield was left in his wake. You can only have a limited list. He is not great but he's better than the alternatives.

Our incredibly impressive forward structure and plan going inside fifty remains the same kick it really long and hope, even when Richmond play one spare behind the ball at all times. we just had to hit white and Seaby when maric was on them to work him over. As usual our forward line never looked likely to have that option.

Watching white his real problem is that he seems to only have One long lead in him. But our ball movement today was so ponderous and our kicking so bad that it really didn't matter much.

Reg who is a better mark probably looked slightly more likely but not by much.

Tbh it really doesn't matter much. We'll get lrt there next week and things will be the same. It is to my mind what is happening downfield and our inability to spread successfully that is the problem. After all jetta is our leading goalscorer - not Reid, white, lrt, goodes, everitt, etc etc

Hopefully we review our tactics for the 1st qtr next week - same thing 3 weeks in a row now.

I can't even think of one good reason to make TDL the sub - particularly when we lack a functional forward structure.

Personally I'm OK to persevere with White and TDL - but they have to play as deep forwards.

They need to decide what they want Everitt to be - started last year back, moved him forward against WCE when Lynch was killing him, he kicks a couple of goals and we try him as a forward. Then hatch a plan in the pre season that he can be a tall midfielder, and has since been a sub and now a forward again.

I don't think he's got the intensity to make it - but we're doing him no favours.
