Disagree with the sentiment that 'Not a good time to select Morton' I think he could come in now. LRT to the backline, retain Tommy as forward/second ruck, Shaw, AJ (injured), Mal out. In Morton, Mitchell and Nipper. Let's do something novel attack, really attack! The best sides at the moment have a very attacking strategy and that is why our and the Hawks game plan is being killed. We are too slow to move the ball. Mitch moves the ball rapidly, this would also suit Parker, Joey and the other young guns. They were taught a totally different brand of footy to the out of date Horse Game Plan. Horse needs to have a long think about what is going wrong! I think all the supporters can see it why can't he?

Also, getting him on the main list would be as easy as a fax. There is room and if they feel he should come in, he'll come in...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

I think we can take it as given that you are John Longmire
So a couple of suggestions:
Small forwards are a ridiculous option for the sub, particularly when the forward line is already diabolical, its actually worse than your Seaby stuff up cos you've done it twice and havent learnt from your mistake
LRT is not a forward and never will be, nor is he a 2nd ruckman. Either play him in the backline where he belongs or make the gutsy call and drop him to the two's.
Any coach with half a brain has cottoned on to the empty forward line bomb it long for Jetta to run on to trick. It needs to be a tactic that is used sparingly, not as Plan A FFS
Please devise Plan B and Plan C because Plan A is bollocks, as Wolftone (I think) mentioned earlier, if tall forwards are not our strength then build a forward line around mediums and smalls instead
Please stop shrugging your shoulders and saying "I don't know what happened, we just didn't show up tonight" after every Melbourne loss and do something about itComment

If that's what's happened I'd suggest that we get a different bus driver who knows their way from Tullamarine to both the MCG and Docklands....Comment

AJ could use a rest, let's give maybe Armstrong another crack. We need some drive out of defence and some one with the ability to hit a target consistently.Comment

If we need hardness at the ball and an increase in tackling intensity then Morton is definitely your man. Put simply there is no messiah in the reserves to fix what happened on the weekend, it was a team effort pretty much and it started in the midfield. There is no other midfielder (than Goodes ) that you culd replace the current crop with.
For me - I wouldnt perservere with LRT but if White is the alternative then maybe Seaby has to be the choice ,otherwise its not much of an alternative. Leave Walsh in , hes learning , get TDL on the field.
In - Seaby , Armstrong (sub)
Out - LRT, LJ (injured)Comment

Oh no, you've outed me. I am John Longmire!
I've looked at your suggestions and I need to talk to the assistant coaches because even though we have thousands of games experience playing and coaching we've just never put enough time into analysing our players' strengths and weaknesses. And a game plan? We should have looked at that too. It must be time to get caj23 and Wolftone into the club as consultants as it is obvious that they are spending more time than us on analysis and planning and their depth of football knowledge must surely dwarf ours. Perhaps the game looks different through the cross-hairs from a high camouflaged nest. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

I watched the game live (ie at Ethihad) and while I think I was aware Pyke wasn't dominating, I didn't have him down as one of the major reasons for our ineptitude. I hope they stick with him for a while - certainly until Mumford is back - and give him a chance to get up to the speed of the game. He's been a fair time out and is still learning, and I don't think he was any worse than Seaby against Richmond.
I also thought he was responsible for one of the few pieces of Swans' play that had me cheering - a ruck contest tap out wide onto the chest of Jack, who duly kicked it through for a goal.Comment

We could put Steve Johnson and Cloke in our forward line and still not kick a winning score. When you're getting smashed in contested possessions, tackles and clearances as we did in the middle part of the game the ball isn't going to go in. We lost the inside 50 count 52-41, and in Q2 and Q3 got something like 15 entries.
We won two quarters with that team on the park. Figuring out why these fadeouts happen almost every week, and why we play so poorly away from home, seems a worthwhile exercise. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
