So if Mumford does return this week, for whom will it be? Presumably he would play less time than usual as they ease him back. I wonder whether they'll play Pyke as the second ruck. I don't recall seeing him float forward much in the last two weeks, but his height and marking ability might be useful up forward. Thoughts?

I'd be very surprised if Mummy is ready to come back, but if he is, I'd imagine they would retain Pyke to share the rucking duties...

Yeah with LRT in doubt again with his bruised heel, Pyke should stay in... hopefully with Mummy.
I also contend, elbow aside, AJ has looked tired for a few weeks now and could do with a rest.
But assuming his elbow comes up I suspect they'll play him, especially if LRT is out.
          So..... OUT : Walsh, LRT
          IN.....Mummy, White/ Morton ( as a forward)
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Even though the ressies had a bye, Spangher looked very very close a fortnight back and with another couple of weeks on the track under his belt I'd be very surprised if he doesn't come in this week.

            In: Spangher
            Out: Dictated by injuries

On another point, the coach mentioned Armstrong and Spang in today's SMH as near ready..Always a bit of a tipoff.

Actually, I wonder if they might throw a Spangher in the works to replace AJ? He can cover the backline defensive role and probably provided as much rebound at the Weagles as AJ does currently- if he's not needed in the backline he can obviously swing forward. If LRT gets up for the game Spangher could give a good opportunity to throw Lewis into a backline role again and if it's not working out switch him with Matt.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I'd like to see TDL and Spang both starting 18. Both players make things happen. If Spang not fit any big body will do to be honest but I'd lean toward Pyke.
Be good to see Meredith come into consideration.
Nipper should come in as our mad bad forward. His energy and enthusiasm for the contest will be of breath of fresh air.
I know this is out there but how about McGlynn in the middle with Jude in the sub vest? I'd play Bird along with JPK as the extractor.
Outs would be LRT, Walsh, Melcho
Seaby or Mummy back in the ruck.
                  So that would be
                  F TDL Reid Pyke
                  HF Gordon Spang Jets
                  C Bird McGlynn Jack
                  R JPK Mummy/Seabs ROK
                  HB Smith Ted Meredith
                  B shaw Mattner reg
                  Int Hanners Bolton AJ McVeigh
You can then inject Jude in the middle or plonk him forward. He can be very damaging and is smart enough to read what's the needed and influence that part of the ground IMO.
                  Thoughts?

Based on the articles in the press this morning and yesterday I gleamed a couple of things:
                    1. There will be no wholesale changes
                    2. LRT is doubt and AJ would be as well
                    3. Spangher and Armstrong are the likely replacements.
                    4. Mummy is 50/50 at best

So in Spangher and Armstrong and out LRT /AJ

I've suggested using a mid as the sub for weeks, rotating them to freshen up a bit. I would have advocated resting one of teh older blokes like Jude, but we just don't have the depth, especially in the leadership brigade, or at ;east didn't against the Saints. I don't know that Horse will make that many changes in one week. On paper that's a good looking side if we can get Lake to play on Pyke not Reid, but whoever Lake goes to has to be smart enough to drag him away from the ball. Leaving out Eski also creates a dilemma in that he is till our most penetrating long kick and he is a player who can move he ball quickly, we just have to get the midfield on the job to create the space necessary for our better ball users to find targets. While I understand Nick hasn't been finding a lot of targets forward, we still have to pump the ball in there and hopefully the forwards create a contest and if necessary a stoppage to hold the ball inside so we can set up. In short, whoever plays this week, needs to work a lot harder than the team that showed up last time out

I'd still be inclined to give Aj the week to recover and freshen up. If we had 2 options for long kicks out of d or inside 50, it's better than one. Sometimes I think we are a bit hard on Eski, it's not like he has Hall, Mick and Nick to kick it to

I guess it would have to be, although he's done almost no ruckwork for the 2's though, so quel dommage.
