OK, my turn to be controversial.
    Out: Eski, Tommy
    In: Armstrong, Nipper

We rest the ruckmen at FF and go short in the forward line (our talls arent doing anything and it is the smalls in every team who have been kicking goals this year). In addition, we move Reid to the wing to do what Richo did for the tiges at the end of his career, thereby letting Reid get his hands on the ball some more and also provide a way out of defence for us at kick-ins. This means we have one big target only in the goalsquare with a fleet of smalls and mids who can burn off their defenders and provide leads or crumbing if needed. Replacing Eski with Armstrong will help with delivery to the leading forwards (or spotting up Reid).

Now, if our FF is a resting ruck then they can be a 'stay-at-home' FF during the press, which will either drag his man back for a one on one, or provide an unmarked target for our smaller forwards who are running at him if we break through. This will also allow the resting ruck to actually get some rest at FF as well.

Our forward line could look something like this:

    HF - Nipper, ROK, McGlyn
FF - TDL, Pyke/Mummy/Seaby (whoever is in the team), McVeigh

Of course, we could just do what we do every week.

Of course the closure of part of the ground doesn't help, but I noticed last home game that General Admission was sold out yet we had less than 21k in attendance. I think that needs to be addressed if we and the AFL want to keep encouraging people to come to our games. We have TV and another team to contend with after all....
I walked up get tickets on the gate to the Melbourne Game.

Only tickets at $70 a pop left... (thankfully I had a 2 for one voucher).

      $70. (lol)

I think this has a lot to do with the Red Zone members now being seated in GA.

I think we read the same article about forwards Dosser, but I don't naccasarily see it as an agument for us to go short up forward. The article said "The key forward is no longer the prime avenue to attack, indeed he is now but the conduit for a plethora of others." I thought about it and came to the conclusion that not much has changed, no key = no plethora. So even if the keys aren't kicking the goals they're still obligatory.
Also Harris is a very good reader of the ball when he's on, he'd probably hoover up half our poorly directed inside 50's if there's no-one to oppose except a tired ruckman.

And I dont think Reid is a ruckmen that you would take into a game. You might do the Malcolm Blight type throw him in the ruck for a few minutes to get him into a game but I wouldnt want to expose him to the potential battering he could get as a ruckmen proper.

You don't think that the opposition fullback ,being a loose man from a kick off will slaughter us ? Full Forward and CHF are the hardest positions on the field. You are assuming long bombs to the tall timber? They are easy for oppositions backmen to smash away. How can a ruckman lead and lead again and again ala Barry Hall? Some rest!
I can't see it working in practise. The old 70's plan of a ruckman in the forward pocket no longer seems to work either as mobility and defensive pressure is the name of the game in the forwards today. Ruckmen are therefore rested on the bench.

This wewek's opposition fullback is Brian Lake, so we need to keep an eye on him. We'll need someone in the forward line to play a negating role - LRT perhaps? Or Melcho as per Scott's suggestion...

That said, I want him to get loads of (ineffective) kicks as he's in my DreamTeam and he's been doing quite well this year

With us playing Sunday the team will be named tonight with a 7 man bench, thus keeping us speculating for an extra 24 hours. It's not fair dammit!

Swans ruckman Shane Mumford, defender Tony Armstrong and forward/ruck option Jesse White have been added to the Swans 25-man squad to face the Western Bulldogs at the SCG on Sunday - http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/n...1/default.aspx

So we've brought in Mummy, White and Armstrong.
                      No outs at this stage.
But it appears LRT keeps his spot, in the forwardline, with poor form and injuries being the story of his year so far...One has to wonder why?

What the hell does Nathan Gordon have to do to get a damn game?! It's about time he got given a chance.

Why did we even bother recruiting Mitch Morton, a forward that can kick goals and was even the lead goal kicker at Richmond one year?

Seaby is the only ruck/forward not named, apart from Spangher who's not match fit.

If Mumford plays he takes Pyke's place.

If he doesn't we have to choose two or three from LRT, WHite, Walsh and Pyke. Not players you'd tip to kick a winning score. Or any score.

I'm not so sure that LRT will play.

From the article on the official site:

The coach said White, who has played three senior games this season, has been included in the side as an option in the ruck.

?We?ve also added Jesse White to the squad as well just given the uncertainty around where Shane Mumford currently sits.?

That quote seems to indicate that White may play if Mumford doesn't.

So maybe it will either be:

                              IN: Mumford
                              OUT: LRT

                              or, if Mumford can't play

                              IN: White
                              OUT: LRT

In both scenarios, Pyke stays in the team.

Imagine Armstrong will also be an 'in', for Malceski.

LRT is struggling with injury, so he may not be an option.
