      Before we all melt down check out age story about Tippett's contract. Adelaide agreed in his now expiring contract that he can go to another Club and all they get is a second round draft pick. That's all we have to give. I agree with whoever said it that criticising our recruiters is dumb. Smart recruiting won us a flag last Saturday. Give our management some credit. Fair dinkum we sometimes sound like fans from some loser club rather than the one acknowledged by other clubs as most professional in the afl.

          So I waited until page 29 to formulate an opinion on this subject. Barely going to bother for the sensible reason that the Powers That Be will do what they deem necessary, with a fair degree of No Dickheadedness in their approach.

          Nah.....to think anyone would think of trading out our Premiership players, especially a brilliant prospect who is STILL ONLY NINETEEN YEARS OLD, seems a little on the nose. So I am out of here.

          You stay Big Al. The Voice Of Reason. (Wait till Wardy and Bas find out about That!)

LRT is going to be 30 come next year, aswell as Pyke who will turn 29 next year. Once Goodes, Bolton, O'Keefe retire we will have alot of cap space freed up. Add to LRT and maybe Pyke moving on in their coming years we will need a backup ruckman to help big mumford. Aswell as a key forward when we lose LRT and Goodes. Tippett will fill both those voids. Add that to extending the contracts of our young gun midfielders, the club will have the necessary room to extend and pay the boys their due contract diligence. Im confident Horse and our football department know what their doing.
            I think there is not that much under the cap as ROK, Goodes and Bolton salary are discounted for being a veteran already. The existing rules are:

            The current veteran's allowance allows a club to pay a player up to half of his wage outside the salary cap, but the player must be 30 or older during the season and have completed 10 years of service. ... if there are one or two veterans, but this reduces to a one-third discount if there are three veterans, 25 per cent if there are four, and so forth.

              This is why I dont really like this. I guess that I am happier if the draft and trade is done without all of this public pressure and speculation. The value we will lose we all know. If it is rohan (and I am absolutely unashamedly the greatest rohan fan on earth) I will be ropeable. I feel exactly the same about AJ, parker and players like jetta hanners and jack are the absolute future of the club for ten years.

              Tipper variables in our favour as far as I can see:

              * Uncontracted;
              * Will probably end up at GWS or Gold Coast if a trade is not done;
              * If he leaves Adel he will free up salary cap;
              * May or may not have some sort of trade clause;
              * Possible room in our salary cap;and
              * Other unknowns - such as Swans who want a trade.

              We may not have to give up as much as we fear.

                re bloodlines post. smart recruiting gave us the pieces to win a flag. a game plan and players playing for each other and the plan gave us a flag. that is what people are concerned about.

                the difficulty is that neither you nor i know what is in the contract. the adelaide people appear to believe it was a handshake deal not a contractual term. who really knows ?

                It would be great if it is as described in the newspaper. we'll see next week.

                  I do not for one moment think that Parker will be going anywhere. Emma Quayle did a what if scenario on Twitter and people have run with it as fact. So rest easy Primms, Parks is here to stay.

                  And yes, Wardy and Bas who know me well will be having a bit of a chuckle that's for sure.

                    Bloody hell I've been out of the country two days and I read thIs 30 page thread !!! Have faith people!! The recruiters have a much better idea of what needs to be done and who to recruit than we do - show them some respect!!! Can't we just enjoy the joy of winning the flag without worrying About something that none of us have any control over??? Gee more important things in the world to worry about than signing Kurt Tippett!!(which I for one think it's great - he wants to come to us - yes us!!! We have what he wants, he has what we need- sure money helps but he at least has the balls to be up front about wanting to be here and be part of our culture - in my eyes he's ticked all of my boxes! Just wait till I get home!' ????????

                          Tippett?

                          Looks like Jesse will be part of the deal, or at least the crows will have a look at him. That's a bit of a relief.

                            I might as well have been out of the country - spent a week 1 km underground in the bush. I've only skimmed the thread and the news articles, but it seems we have the usual mix of doubters and those who have faith in our club.

                            Like Wardy, I think it is great that we have gone from being the perpetually screwed over club that nobody wanted to be a part of to one that most would give their eye teeth to be a part of.

                            Sydney do not enter deals like this without some input from the players. Riccuto's comments on Fox that the trade will cause trouble with our players is laughable and probably a reflection on the way other clubs go about it.
                            Those who may be a possibility to be traded will have already been told.
                            Some of the deals proposed have been laughable - Sydney are astute but fair traders. A deal will be done but it will be a fair one.

                              Will be interesting to see what we have to give up. Crows won't accept out first pick + White,

                              I'm thinking someone like AJ would be good to throw in the deal. AJ + First round pick = Tippett.

                              Having said that, I think Tippett is over-rated. So, White and our first pick would all I would want to give up.

                                Tippett?

                                If they don't accept our deal, Tippett will walk to the draft where GWS, or more likely GC will get him for free. White + first round is a lot better than nothing.
