Now they've re-signed Sam Reid do you think they are more likely to try to offload Tippo-the-Dinosaur?
Tippett!!

Asking that question isn't a criticism.
I'm a great fan of Tippo, but tend to agree that he hasn't lived up yo expectations, primarily through injury.
I hope he stays.
But the question as to whether or not we think he will be offloaded at the end of the year is entirely different.
I now think he will go.The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I wonder if Tipp's contract was extended with the understanding that he would at worst play out his career predominantly in the NEAFL as a ready made backup ruckman & forward. The reduced rate eased cap pressure, extended his career and gives us a ruck/forward who can step in immediately when required.
Best case is he finally becomes the player we thought we thought we were recruiting. But a handy mature bodied replacement if an emerging tall forward or ruckman if one of our emerging ones goes down.Comment

Tippett is a gutsy, hard-working ruck/forward who - when fit, admittedly - can make life hard for another ruckman and have defenders on edge. He has good hands, is prepared to run and is a decent kick. I hope he sees his time out with us in whatever capacity he and the club can agree on.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. Andrew Wu is positive on Tippo:
Sydney Swans' Kurt Tippett can still silence critics with big finish to 2017
Always pleasing to contribute to this thread (more like a ship's cable actually) and I see it Andrew's way.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Is there any truth to the rumours that we've tried to shop Tippo to pretty much every club?
Can't see how we've been able to afford Reid, Jones, the fleet of young boys AND our veterans.
Someone needs to get squeezed. Probably Macca?Comment

If the rumours of Reid taking approx $600,000 per year are correct then he has probably taken reasonable unders due to his family situation and being happy (not unusual for players at good clubs to do that) which probably doesn't place too much cap squeeze.
I'd think we'd look at any Tippo offers but they'd have to be a good deal for us and him and I think that it is highly unlikely that we'll get an offer that meets both of those criteria.
For mine he stays.Comment

I hope not, but I can feel it in my waters.
He's actually on fire at the moment... if his body can hold on for another year, I'd be happy.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment
