Sorry, I've gotta weigh in here ... what a load of crap

    It's a worthless opinion.

Doesn't even offer criteria (ie must they have had to have played senior football? - there are a bunch of guys who haven't even earned a senior appearance - either this season or al all). I'd take Tippett over Cloke any day of the week for a start.

      +1

I'd take Tippett over a lot in the AFL at the moment, including Sinclair.

Why, for crying out loud? Can't be based on performance...ticker...skills...or return on investment. Tippo' best days were with the Crows. At least Sinclair gives it his all.

You're kidding right? Even marking one handed and kicking with his non-dominant foot Tippett has is over Sinclair. And I've never thought that Tippett isn't trying. He's let down by his body, for sure, but he puts it on the line almost every time.

And Sinclair might give it his all, but it's not as good as 70% in form Tippett (it's just a pity that Kurt's body doesn't always get past 60%

As for return on investment, I'm tired of that argument. The Swans had to offer overs for him at the time time to out price him from Qld Clubs. That's hardly Tippett's fault.

So what's the go with Tippo now? He is the twos. Based on last week's performance, he looks like being there for awhile. What, he is down on confidence? Give me a break.

Tippo is in the two's because he's been lacking in continuity, fitness and form. This is what the Swans website Longmire: No guarantees - sydneyswans.com.au said yesterday:

Longmire expected Tippett's stint in the seconds to be short-lived, noting the Club was confident the 30-year-old would produce "his best form pretty quickly". But the 2012 premiership coach also made it clear Tippett, who joined the Swans on a lucrative multi-million deal in 2012, would not be gifted anything. "Kurt will play when we think he can help us win, like our other two ruckmen and like every other player in the team," Longmire said. "He just has to work on a few things and make sure he has a real presence in the air and on the ground.

"It's pretty basic. He certainly improved in those areas last week and I'm sure he will continue to improve, whether that's this week in the seniors or not..." The stop-start narrative continued this year in the form of ankle and hip setbacks. "He's certainly feeling a bit better," Longmire said. "Like all players, you need to manage them. He's certainly been able to put the training program together. We're confident he'll be able to be in his best form pretty quickly. We're confident he will be back in the senior team pretty shortly."

I think that's pretty unambiguous. They expect him to improve and then take the place of Sinclair in the near future. It's not in anyone's interest for Tippett to play badly and languish in the twos. If he does recover his form, as Horse expects, he'll make us a much better team.

No it's the club's fault for paying 200% for someone we're getting about 60% output from. I don't think anyone is blaming Kurt for this.

Worth taking a look at his stats. Taken from here, hover over "abbreviations key" on that web page for any you can't work out.

Some are up, some down, some the same. It really shows his decline as a key forward and more time rucking.

According to Neil Cordy Tippett's contract is until 2020
HE might be struggling to get a senior game but the prospect of Kurt Tippett departing the Swans looks highly unlikely with the big man contracted to Sydney until the end of 2020.

The Swans reported it as 2018, Cordy is wrong

Given that he specifically states that he confirmed with Harley the length of the contract I'm not sure that he is. It mentions it's been negotiated twice and that he sacrificed part of his annual salary in exchange for a longer contract

Perhaps what has happened is that the clauses in his contract triggered the first extension in early 2016 as per the afl website article and negotiated again after his early 2016 good form

One year, three years. A week is too long in my book. The reality is that the coaching staff have moved on. We are winning games without him, and winning them in areas where he is supposed to excel. The only way this bloke is ever going to get a game in the firsts is to earn it. Really earn it. No more half-baked attempts to see if he will get better with game time, no more lame excuses about his confidence or bad hip/knee/ankle/head. He just has to stay away and genuinely earn a place in the side. I doubt he can do it. Never seeing him again flopping around failing to take marks, running behind the play, getting in the road of play makers is something I can live with.

If it has been renegotiated it would want to be on a markedly reduced contract. He may not be costing us as much as everyone thinks and would be good depth even if he's in and out of the senior team
