Where's the mill a year coming from? Surely they are not going to pension off Jude when the "fire is still burning" in his belly?
Tippett!!

Maybe this is just the way of the free agency era where players go to the highest bidder. Might well happen to us. Maybe it's a reality that the Swans management have come to terms with faster than the fans have. I thought 700k was pushing it for Tippett, but who knows how this will affect the team overall if it does come through. We still have to find a trade that satisfies the Crows. Have very much mixed feelings about this whole thing. On one hand, I do think Tippett can help us go back to back in the GF, but not sure of the downside on the psychology of the rest of the players, who will want their share of the pie when their turns up. May lead to big losses for us further down the line.Comment

They'd need at least one top 22 player and one youngster who is certain to play firsts....for example Luke Parker and Alex Brown...plus pick 16"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

This may become a drawn out process - all the way to the pre-season draft. Adelaide may be forced to take what they can get from us given the Suns can land him for free. He may even try to get through to us through this draft if the contract is outrageous (which it sounds). Integrity among the clubs may be a factor here - hope we don't compromise this but would hate to lose promising players.
We do need another quality ruckman as backup - assuming Seaby and White gone - may be a factor here too.Comment

Who came up with the million a year figure ?????
The melbourne media...It must be true.
No way the Swans would pay this guy that much...
More realistic would be about 700k a year, which is a big gamble in itself, given his concussions and fluctuating form.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Perish the thought, but we're not planning for life sans Goodes are we?
Wonder if the damage he's done to his knee by playing through it will shorten his career? He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

If we are agressively chasing tippet id say that means we are losing someone good. Bolton and goodes spring to mind considering their age. Josh kennedy is also s worry.
Btw, I cant undetstand why clubs arent chasinv jesse white. Deems the ff/ruck s are worth their weight in goldComment

Tippett is the sort of player we need no doubt. Just think about Sam Reid and Kurt in the same team. It would also allow us to free up Adam. What makes me apprehensive is the suggested money and further, the compensation to validate the trade. The thought of trading away one of our premiership players or our young kids...well it makes me a little sick.
Whatever happens i'm trusting the club - they've taken us this far.Comment

I think goodesy will play on though - he is still so influential, and whilst he will need some reasonable recovery time from the PCL injury, he is still in good shape, and still is such a key player at key moments.
Kennedy is going nowhere.... and if he was, I doubt we'd be chasing a big name forward to replace him!
I hope there is someone out there that wants Jesse Jane. It would also not suprise me if he is on my than decent $$$. I still wonder how Tippett fits into our wage structure if he does come, but no doubt our very capable management team are all over it. We can only trust them, for when it comes to recruitment, they make very, very few mistakes indeed."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Tippett plus a Round 4 selection for Grundy and our 2nd and 3rd Round picks.
Reid to play as a defender again.
Tippett up forward with the aging Goodes and speedy Rohan and the .... LRT.
Grundy goes home to Adelaide.
Makes the side much stronger.
Everyone's a winner.
Problem solved.
