Tippett
Tippett has signed an unconditional 4 year contract with the sydney swans...Not sure what to think of this. I do not want to lose any premiership players and I think we've offered him too much.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

As long as Tippett is genuine about wanting to be a part of our culture and play his role, I'm alright with this. If he doesn't buy in, he'll be out. Barry Hall will attest to that, as would Tippett's now former teammate Lewis Johnson (apparently)Comment

Does anyone know if Kennedy has signed his contract yet?

I think they will want a lot more than a second round pick. We are now down to number 24 in Round 1 that is getting extended with every unrestricted player moving, so number 24+ for Adelaide is not necessarily that flash. I reckon we take Tippett for whatever it takes and maybe trade a couple, then jump into the draft for the best possible youth we can get. I suspect the salary cap will dictate that strategy. Rookie list could be a bit skinny this year. We have to delist at least 3.Comment

Why is he a mercenary? That is the nature of professional sport. Does the same label then apply to our past greats in Lockett & Hall just to name a few (we have been offering players from other clubs more money and greater opportunities since the 1930s)?Comment

It's clear to me the Swans are thinking about life after Goodes. He's a terrific talent and as people have said if he buys into the bloods culture then the skies the limit for him...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

The upside from this trade is enormous if we manage to get it done. We have our forward line setup potentially for the good part of a decade. The extra tall to help Sammy up forward will be huge. And as he showed in the Preliminary final, Tippett is a class act, and I have little doubt that our club will get the best out of him - there are very few footballers that come to Sydney that and don't play their best footy here."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
