Wow. A resounding approval of what the club does and how it goes about it. Anyways as long as it doesn't put too many noses out of joint and doesn't cost us too much, I'm for it.

      Tippett

Tippett has signed an unconditional 4 year contract with the sydney swans...Not sure what to think of this. I do not want to lose any premiership players and I think we've offered him too much.

LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

As long as Tippett is genuine about wanting to be a part of our culture and play his role, I'm alright with this. If he doesn't buy in, he'll be out. Barry Hall will attest to that, as would Tippett's now former teammate Lewis Johnson (apparently)

Wow, this is big news but yes let's hope it doesn't get any of our other players out of joint. Who's going to miss out on the starting 22 in 2013?? We are going to have so much fire power, I cannot wait!!

I reckon we take Tippett for whatever it takes and maybe trade a couple, then jump into the draft for the best possible youth we can get. I suspect the salary cap will dictate that strategy. Rookie list could be a bit skinny this year. We have to delist at least 3.
Oh man! I don't understand how this rookie list thing works. So Harry Cunningham and Campbell Heath were upgraded right? That leaves Shane Biggs, Eugene Kruger, Dylan McNeil and Jack Lynch. Jack Lynch and Shane Biggs are probably the safest?

I think it said "conditional", not unconditional. We'd be mad to give him an unconditional contract with his concussion situation.

I really doubt JPK will be involved in this trade in any way. He's worth two top 10 picks, much more than Tippett.

Why is he a mercenary? That is the nature of professional sport. Does the same label then apply to our past greats in Lockett & Hall just to name a few (we have been offering players from other clubs more money and greater opportunities since the 1930s)?

Even after 2 flags in 7 years people still don't trust the Swans as far as recruitment is concerned.

It's clear to me the Swans are thinking about life after Goodes. He's a terrific talent and as people have said if he buys into the bloods culture then the skies the limit for him.

I also fail to understand the angst amongst many with this potential recruitment. I know Tippett's departure from Adelaide has been messy, and he will get plenty of stick about it. But he isn't going to come in and ruin our culture in one hit as many would think. Certainly, imo no bigger risk than bringing Big Bad Barry up, and that worked out pretty well.

The upside from this trade is enormous if we manage to get it done. We have our forward line setup potentially for the good part of a decade. The extra tall to help Sammy up forward will be huge. And as he showed in the Preliminary final, Tippett is a class act, and I have little doubt that our club will get the best out of him - there are very few footballers that come to Sydney that and don't play their best footy here.

Realistically they will want a proven player from our GF team as well as our first pick. Fair enough.
