LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.
2012 Bloods Premiers. -
Cunningham and Heath were upgraded during the year but that doesn't mean the club is obliged to keep the on the senior list. Both could stay on the rookie list (so long as they agree) or still be delisted. That said, I expect Cunningham will be promoted for next year, while Heath will probably be offered the chance too if he doesn't want to seek greater opportunities elsewhere.
Kruger and McNeil are almost certainly gone, though it is not beyond the realms of possibilitiy that McNeil could find himself on a list somewhere else. The lad can play but just isn't going to force his way into a senior team with JPK, ROK, Hanners, Jack, McVeigh, Parker (and with Mitchell in the wings).
The other two are probably touch and go. I'd keep Lynch - he's tall and athletic and definitely showed improvement during the 2012 season. Biggs played some OK football in the first half of the year, before succumbing to injury but I confess I didn't see anything that screamed out "senior AFL potential". Still he could very well get another year.Comment

People should be happy with the prospect of getting a Key forward like him. Reid's development improves, Adam Goodes gets freed up to roam the midfield, we don't have to rely on our midfield to kick ten thousand goals and lets not forget that games against Collingwood and Adelaide were lost this year becasue we didn't have another forward who could take a big clunking mark.
This is GOOD for our club. I trust our coaches and list managers to make sure that what we give up won't outweigh the benefits.
The only thing that could piss me off now is if people start having a go at our COL allowance. If you don't know how it works or the facts about our Salary cap situation then you can @@@@ off. Criticising without evidence is just ignorant jealousy.Comment

Re: Tippett?
I would too but that is where our depth is. Thinking in terms of what would be fair and win-win.Comment

Yeah i reckon 1st round pick + 3rd round pick or 1st round pick and one of the players who might be out of favour and need another opportunity such as Jarred Moore, Jesse White, Everitt, Spangher and Seaby. Hope we don't overpay the odds for him. I actually thought GC Suns would have been his natural home.
No way should he be the highest paid player. Maybe in the top 25% of the list but I prefer our tier-2 players to be earning more when they renegotiate their contracts.
One thing I never knock is our recruiting managers and Andrew Ireland. We might have had the occasional dud recruit who didn't work out but our strike-rate in recycled players is pretty awesome. Moneyball at work.Comment

I suspect the "conditional" refers not to his health (the Swans would already have done their due diligence there) but rather than it is still contingent on the Crows being willing to trade him for what we are willing to offer.
It's the "what we are willing to offer" part that is interesting. The Swans probably wouldn't have got this far without some idea of what they might have to trade for Tippett. Grundy's name is the obvious one because a) the Crows asked for him last year as part of the Armstrong trade; b) a key defender is the most obvious need the Crows have (other than now a key forward); c) Reg is from SA and might already have indicated he's interested in going home. It would be cruel to send anyone not from SA to Adelaide.
Part of me thinks it would be folly to trade Grundy but I can't see how else this is going to play out.Comment

It IS folly to trade Grundy. Our backline is so old and in a few years time only Reg, AJ and Smith will be left. Reg is our future and he's growing into his role. KPD's of his general consistency are rare in themselves (though clearly not as rare as KPF's...).
Please don't let it be Reg!

I'd be amazed if the Swans were ready to off-load Parker. Look at how well he polled in the B&F early in the season, before injuries took their toll. And they will be mindful of the fact that Jude and ROK are past the 30 mark, and we don't have an abundance of inside mids in our reserves - just Mitchell and his body is still a concern. Plus Parker isn't exactly the type of player the Crows particularly need. They already have Thompson, Sloane, McKay, Vince, Van Berlo, Brodie Smith and Crouch, the 17 year old they extracted from GWS last year.
I suppose it is possible that one of our premiership team could be traded to another club for a highish pick which could be sent to Adelaide with something else (either our first round or a decent fringy). However, the way the likes of AJ, Parker and Hanners talk about the club, it is hard to see any of them volunteering to leave, even if it is to go back to a Victorian club rather than to Adelaide.Comment
