I have been disappointed with some of our trading of players whom I though would have been great, to other clubs over the passed few years, such as Vez, Johnston etc, but each time the club has been vindicated in the decision. I am very happy we are looking at filling the biggest gap the team has and this year I will accept whatever the decision is to trade. As they obviously have a proven track record
Tippett!!

I've been saying all along that Grundy will likely be part of the deal. In reality, I have no idea if he is or isn't. I agree with Liz, that only a South Australian will agree to go there. Our back line is our strength. We have cover with LRT (who is going to get pushed out of the forward line), so in a way trading Grundy makes space for a loyal servant to go back to the position he prefers, and IMO plays just as well as Grundy. We have some good depth with Spangher (if retained), Everett, who might well improve in his defensive capabilities, and the 2 draft choices from last year, Lockyer and Brown. So this trade only strengthens the team, even if Grundy goes to Adelaide.
I've got my doubts about the whole thing, the money, the medical risks, the long term effects on the current playing group given Tippett will probably be the highest paid player, etc., but it's really hard doubting the ability of our recruiters to get it right.
Most of the negativity on this board during the past year has been around how poor our forward line has been. So how can we complain when or recruiters land the best quality forward available for trade?Comment

Reg is likely and I'd have separation issues, but yes I'd get over it for Kurt Tippett and another chance at the holy grail. I hate the thought of losing him, but that's the way life it - you've got to lose quality to get quality. What will be interesting is seeing whether Reg himself is okay with leaving. The thought of tapping a premiership player on the shoulder and telling him to get lost a week after they gave it their all for this club...eugh it just makes me feel queasy.

There is a question over whether Tippett is the answer, particularly given the cost. I've always thought the hype surrounding him exceeded the output and he had a poor 2012 despite playing in one of the top sides. However, his PF performance certainly gave a glimpse of what he is capable of when he sets his mind to it.Comment

Phuck! Looks like it will go ahead now anyway. Report on club website says he has agreed to a four year provisional contract. Who will we give up. The Crows used Jacobs as their main ruckman during the season with support from our new arrival. So, maybe Jesse might be of interest given he is a ruckman and sound goal kicker too. IComment

Tippett?
Tippett has signed an unconditional 4 year contract with the sydney swans...Not sure what to think of this. I do not want to lose any premiership players and I think we've offered him too much.

I think the Crows/media have done a good job of painting Tippett as a mercenary by sharing the txt msg he sent to players, but in his defence, realistically there was no other way for him to communicate en masse aside from seeing them all face to face which is nigh on impossible after the end of the season. I initially thought he was a bit of an a-hole after reading his txt but the latest press release has changed my mind some.
At the end of the day, a wait and see approach seems best. I don't really want to lose any of our awesome players, but our forward line does need some added fire power.Comment

Let's pause re the cost.
He will no doubt be on 600k, but some of the higher numbers seen no doubt reflect what the Lions or Suns were prepared to offer and it's assumed he must be getting more to come to us.
I seriously doubt with Reid on a five year deal and the club being smart enough to invest in hanners, aj, Kennedy etc they won't commit over the odds for Tippett'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Our forward line was the thing that needed improving and having tippett and reid will do exactly that.
They are talking about it being a complex deal where i reckon white, walsh and spangher might all go to other teams for 2nd or 3rd round picks which then might be enough to then give to adelaide.
Grundy made our top 10 in best and fairest so i cant see them wanting to let him go. Same for all of the premiership players - surely they are all safe. Its the fringe or our young draft picks that will be vulnerable. Does everitt have any currency with other teams you think?Comment

No doubt there will be some complicated multi-party trade that brings us the picks/players we need to satisfy Adelaide.Comment

this is on twitter "Triple M just reported senior Swans players have requested a meeting with the board re: Tippett. They?re livid"
If we trade Parker to get Tippett I will never be a swans member again surely we would not be that dumb...............in all honesty I dont want to trade Grundy either..................If we have so much spare cash lets sign our young guns up on longer term deals and give Josh Kennedy anything he wants. Let our recruiters scour OZ for a ready made tall forward from one of the many leagues around, sure to be hidden gems ready to goComment

Parker is off the list
I'd be amazed if the Swans were ready to off-load Parker. Look at how well he polled in the B&F early in the season, before injuries took their toll. And they will be mindful of the fact that Jude and ROK are past the 30 mark, and we don't have an abundance of inside mids in our reserves - just Mitchell and his body is still a concern. Plus Parker isn't exactly the type of player the Crows particularly need. They already have Thompson, Sloane, McKay, Vince, Van Berlo, Brodie Smith and Crouch, the 17 year old they extracted from GWS last year.
I suppose it is possible that one of our premiership team could be traded to another club for a highish pick which could be sent to Adelaide with something else (either our first round or a decent fringy). However, the way the likes of AJ, Parker and Hanners talk about the club, it is hard to see any of them volunteering to leave, even if it is to go back to a Victorian club rather than to Adelaide.Comment
