I reckon Swans should trade Tippett for a couple of first round draft picks or a 1st round pick and a player. Tippett's on too much coin at $900k a season. This will free up some salary cap space to spread it amongst current players and extend their contracts.

For me Tippett has value to us as a key forward who can kick goals, create a contest, hold marks, take the pressure & focus off Buddy. He's also our best ruckman.
And the thread devoted to him has broken all kinds of records!

The downside is the amount of time he spends out of the side injured.

This latest injury was hardly his fault. It could have happened to anybody. It is not like he was reckless with his own health.

          I didn't say it was. Many of his concussions weren't. I'm pro-Tippett.
Just saying his injuries are those awkward ones that tall guys can get (knee injuries) or selfless guys can get (concussions).
I though my list had more up than down sides

All the focus will be on Bud, Tippett needs to rip this game apart!

The issue is how much he chews into our salary cap that could be spent on 2 very good players. With that salary he had to do much better than he did today. Trade ??

He played very well in first half of year as 1st ruck.
Not sure where he sits now naibsmith is first ruck.

Id say we have too much cap room taken by ruckmen in general.

I'd keep Naismith, Nankervis and Sinclair and trade Tippett. Brisbane might be interested......

Right now, after the way he played today I'd trade that lump in a nanosecond even for a second rounder if we can create some cap space.

But in reality he is vitally important to our structure and he won't be going anywhere. I just hope his two year extension was on reduced terms than $900,000 a season

No way we will get this but if we could get two first rounders for Tippett I would say we'd take it in an instant

Tippett had his jaw broken by AFL sanctioned thuggery, which interrupted his form/fitness/momentum. His large salary does bring more responsibility, but he wasn't amongst the bottom 5-6 today, and he was awesome for us for the first half of this year.

Bit of a knee jerk reaction to trade a quality player based on one game. If Buddy gets injured we will need him badly.

Buy that is kinda the problem, we haven't got a whole season of the good Tippo. He does spend a lot of time on the injury list.

Harsh assessments IMO. He was killing it before his injury and then the fractured jaw stalled his momentum at the wrong time. I see no reason why he won't start 2017 as well as he started 2016.
