Hopefully the poor attendance figures for the Sunday Twilight games put an end to those.

Clearly the bumper crowd for Friday helped us get another one.

I'm the same, the weekends suck when we lose early (although losing late isn't much fun either).

I have not seen all the snippets, but if we are playing away games in Hobart and NZ against Melbourne teams, how many do we actually get to play in Victoria next year?

And that's a Thursday!!! But I suggest to you all make a bit of a holiday of it - either before or after the game - you won't regret it.

I think they've confirmed the same number of VIC games as this year

I'm sure I can work a Jed Lamb joke in there somewhere.

It's a promising sign for us avoiding Kardinia Park at least, because I'd expect as Premiers we'll get at least another MCG game as well.

The AFL should get P&O or some random cruise ship company to get on board and have an AFL Anzac cruise. You need to fit it in between the weekend prior and get back the weekend after the game so working peeps just need 4 days AL and maybe an RDO on the Monday following.

We play the previous Friday night against the Cats, so ship leaves from Sydney on Sat, arrives in Melb on Monday to pick up the Sainters, departs for NZ arriving Wed night/Thurs morning. Game Thursday twilight, leaves on Fri afternoon so some sightseeing around Wellington on Friday, arrives back in Sydney Sun night/Mon morning and finally back down to Melb.

If advertised properly, I could see it being well patronised and would be a good trip with a real footy theme...

The AFL is contracted to play 3 games at ANZ. We already know Swans v Hawthorn is one of them. We can lock in Swans v Collingwood as another.
There are 2 derbies; that leaves only 1 of them at ANZ. I wouldn't mind guessing that's the Giants' home game for reasons that I'll expand on next paragraph - which leaves the Swans' home game against GWS to be played at the SCG.

We also know that GWS have one of their Canberra games in round 3 (v St Kilda, the first Manuka night game). We also know that Skoda Stadium isn't available over the first 2 rounds because of the Easter Show. I think it would be very unlikely that the Giants would start with two away games, or have their first two home games both in Canberra. So that means the Giants would be playing a home game at ANZ in the first two rounds - and I can't see GWS playing a home game against anyone else other than the Swans there.

My wild speculation is that we could well have GWS v Swans (GWS home game) at ANZ in round 1; then the Swans unfurling their flag at the SCG in round 2.

During the last SCG redevelopment we played 4 games at ANZ Stadium in 2008 (Essendon, Collingwood, West Coast and Geelong). So with the SCG still at reduced capacity for another year they may do the same to avoid fans missing out (I suspect this is why the Hawks game has been shifted from the SCG, since interest in our Round 22 game this year was so high).
