      rohan !!!!

Rohan looks quicker in full flight but that my be because of Jettas running style that makes it look as though he's never in top gear ( if that makes sense?)

I believe Rohan used to be quicker over all those distances, but Goodes is faster than both of them over 20m (or so he claims!)

How fast he will be when he returns is another thing. He's got decent height (I think he grew more after we drafted him) and so I think he'll still be quick enough, even if he does lose a little bit of pace.

I am not expecting very much from him at all this season and not much in the future - i hope to be pleasantly surprised if he gets back to the speed or potential he showed. I just want to make sure he is Ok for the rest of his life. That was an horrific break and I would prefer it to go as slow as it humanly can to get him OK so that he has as close to full flexibility, stength and movement as he can get.

I want the club to look after him.

I hope that doesnt come across too pessimistic but I know of a lot of players from soccer and footy who have had that sort of injury and they struggle for the rest of their careers. I know the management of these things is improving all the time, but first and foremost i want him to be OK, footy and the club are very much secondary from my perspective.

In part as i have I said before the highlight of 2012 for me was being at kardinia park and watching him stream away from me to kick a goal at a stage of the match where we were just barely hanging on. The pace he showed on that run and the cheers around me from the knot of swans supporters cheered me a lot

My sediments exactly! I will treat Gaz as a bonus to what we already have in the team because I know that too many players in different codes have the same issue and never return to their previous ability. If he does, then happy days!

You've hit rock bottom with this post.

I'm heartened by the fact that another Ranga a few years ago badly broke his leg and went on to have a pretty decent career. I'll have everything crossed that he comes back and plays close to what we know he's capable of.

he might just have to run straighter lines out of the backline flanks as a worst case scenario but I think by next season he could play on the flanks wing or HFF again

my mate who had the same injury took 18months to be able to play soccer again.........was a centre mid but went back and played centre back as it didnt feel right (90% was his description) for the first season back............but now is playing centre mid again and able to play at pretty much 100% in all directions and demands of premier league (NSW)

he still saids it doesnt feel like his leg.......there is a slight delay in taking off and breaking to feel 100% traction - well thats he describes the post op leg !

I'm with you MH - not too hopeful.

To be fair, in 2010 I was shaking my head at my father's hopeless optimism in believing that we would be in flag contention around about 2013, so maybe its more about me than about Gary

I'm sure he's getting the best of care and I can't wait until he finally gets to start stringing games together though.

2009 draft camp, 20m sprints. We got three players who tested in the top 10, Jetta at 8th with 2.95 second. Rohan at 5th with 2.93 seconds. And Reid at number 4 with 2.92 seconds. I suspect that over a longer distance Reid would have dropped away though. I do think I remember hearing Gaz say that over 100m he had Jetts covered, but shorter than that was a different story. For trivia's sake, Jetta finished top 10 for 20m sprint, standing vertical jump, and repeat sprints. Reid was top 10 for 20m sprint, standing vertical jump, and the shuttle run. Rohan was top 10 for 20m sprint, repeat sprints, and number 1 in the kicking test.

Wow, that footage is very illuminating. How good it must be for him to have the support of footballers who have successfully trodden the long road to recovery before him. What patience and perseverance is required! Watching them go round and round and round and round for a minute was too much for me -two minutes of that and I would be screaming with frustration yet he has already endured months and still has a long way to go! The mental and psychological challenge to keep pressing on must be enormous.

And the same white van in the background goes up the road time and time again.

Did anyone recently see a large article in the one of the papers on Gary Rohan's recovery?

Not sure what paper it was in. Maybe one of the Sydney papers?

If anyone knows, can you please attach the article to this thread.

                            Thanks heaps.
