Reid at centre half forward, Tippett at full foward, resting ruck in the pocket. How traditional! Big ground, average opponent, the perfect opportunity to our test our structure and Longmire's vision of the Swans. Share the dream!

I know this has already be discussed but if Goodes is back in surely we are too tall/top heavy? Would he go into the midfield?
Would of loved to of seen Morton in for B.Jack and get a real potent forward line happening, but at the same time its good to give the youngsters a run and some experienceComment

Except Carlton has hardly franked the form tonight have they.
I think goodes does make us too tall. He has never been a great defender and with Tippett, Pyke, etc on the big grounds we will need to play half forwards who stay at home much moreComment

One assumes all this was thought through when we chased Tippett and that the coaches think a three prong giant forward line will work.
If it does then we'll probably see Tippett play a true FF role and leave the rucking to Pyke and Mummy. Don't really want your million dollar man getting bashed in ruck contests anyway.
So to not be too top heavy, what we really need to make the three prong giant attack work is to surround them with quick and hard mids/smalls. This will negate some of the danger about opposition rebound if the bll isn't marked. Rohan will greatly help here next year and I get the feeling Brandon Jack is very much in the coaches 2014 picture too. Lamb is clever enough to be one of these needed players and all three of those can rotate midfield when needed. This scenario suggests Jude is in his last year and Morton may be on borrowed time too.
Goodes can probably be used more as a high HF/midfielder in 2014 with a bit more time on the bench rotations, nice luxury to have! Goodes more midfield allows McVeigh to become a permanent HBF where he is excelling.
Nearly time for one of those "our best 22" in 2014 threads :-)Comment
