I have nothing but respect for the guy. He's taken on a basket case with an obvious focus on sorting them out. I wish him luck and success. I have always had a soft spot for the dees.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

A players'/coach's lifetime devotion to & involvement with a single club is a rare case indeed.Comment

This, or perhaps just Mummy for the priority pick ( They are presently trying to secure).
As I said on the other thread, I'm more concerned about him plundering our coaching ranks looking for his eventual successor.
On his relatively short contract...That would work in nicely with his previously mentioned ambition to move to America when his kids had finished school.
Maybe that was Tammy's condition on moving to our Mexican capital.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

He was our premiership coach.
he had a big hand in allowing us to become what we are now.
Then he decided not to coach any more.
Longmire took over, and became a premiership coach as well.
My memories of what Roos did will last, and won't be tainted by what he decides to do in the future.
Same with Hall. He's come out and been pissed with the Swans and it didn't affect me - a bit sad for him though that his memories obviously were tainted.
I would dare say that Roos wasn't the commentator he had hoped to be.
He is smart enough, he is well spoken enough, but he lacked charisma.
He obviously likes a challenge, and would be hoping to be seen as the 'coach of the century' if he's able to make the Demons a powerhouse and secure their future.
Enter the messiah....The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I'm sure he will always be a Swan at heart much like Barrassi has always been a Demon at heart.Comment

This succession plan is a fantastic carrot...not you Richo...to hang out for any possible candidates for the assistant roles.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Forget the players I'm more worried he'll lure Kinnear Beatson. The biggest issue at Melbourne is list management.Comment

Good on him - I have nothing against him going there to try and sort out an almighty mess. Will be a big challenge for him.
As Jewels pointed out, Barrassi rescued us all those years ago - I hope Roosy can do the same for the Dees."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Really? Surely not. I guess it depends on how much we want to pay the head of the Academy and how much the head of the Academy actually thinks he should be paid.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Hopefully it wasnt just a case of wages not high enough or he would of stayed at the academy.Along with Tudor,Stone and Kennelly ive also heard today rumours of Kinnear Beatson maybe going to dees,i wish Roosy the best of luck but hands off George and Kinnear please. Any lovre i have for Roos will quickly diminish if he starts taking key pilars of our club. Hopefully the fact that Roos is only caretaker for 2 or 3 years may scare some off making the move.Comment

Anyway, I guess I had wanted him to stay the coach of the Academy for selfish reasons, because I just want Australian Football to grow in Sydney and the region can produce players equal or better than Victoria. I would like to see a competitive state of origin game between NSW and Victoria within my lifetime. Wishful thinking, I guess. The standard seems to be improving in the NEAFL though, which is good to see.Comment
