The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.
All is fair in love and war. Generally people are not successful unless also ruthless. Mr nice guy probably all an act. Wonder if there will be a ceremony to knock down the statue.

He's probably a nice-enough guy. And I remember John Longmire laughing when asked about the low-key appearance of Roos and saying Roos is the most competitive person he has ever met.
And do we imagine that Kirky is going to soft-pedal his job tonight?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
Bit dodgy but it's a one off thing because Roos knows the kid already.
If they want him they can draft him, and if we want him we can match b the bid. Surely they don't need to convince him to go there?
Except that Roos knows all the kids he has been coaching, and will know the better ones especially well, you think.
Perris actually can't choose to go into the draft if the Swans put him on their senior list. As a scholarship player, he effectively agreed to join the Swans (if they wanted him) when he signed the scholarship. This will force the Swans to put him directly onto the senior list though, not try to persuade him to accept a rookie spot.
I do find these actions of Roos surprising and distasteful, given he has been espousing the importance of the Academy for development of the game in Sydney for years now, well before it was actually set up.

Well in that case then Roos is really stirring up the hornets' nest (if the allegations are true) for nothing since I believe that Perris will/should go on the main list. He is a special case though being both a NSW scholarship holder and an Academy member and I think he's the only one.
Confirmation/media speculation on the salary as Academy coach, too. $300k is decent bucks for that role, and frankly $165k still would have been.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
Roos has always been a double talking bull**** artist.
Look forward to us thumping the Demons next year....And not having to listen to Roos excruciating commentary during the game.
Reading the article this morning comes as no surprise. Totally agree with you on your comments Ernie.
I would like to know what idiot appointed him in the coaching position for $300,000 a year. How can this be justified? Even at a cut of 55% it is an extremely well paid position for what he has to do.
I'd like to see our membership fees be spent in better ways than propping up Roos in a lifestyle that he has become accustomed to.
If he wants to take Kennelly with him then that is fine.
I think it just confirms Roos' character and the sooner he p's off to Melbourne the better.
Very rarely post here these days but the above specific comments about Roos are offensive to the club and to me. Some of the slander that gets said on here is truly outrageous it beggars belief. Don't bother lecturing me about how right you are or how entitled you are to your opinion because I won't be reading it. And don't ever tell me to piss off.
Maybe this is just me but isn't this just doing the right thing by his new employer?
Roos is now Melbourne coach and we have to accept that, if he had just been appointed our coach from, for example Collingwood, then I would be disappointed if he didn't at least try to lure their best talent to us, it's simply good business.

Oh I didn't realise scholarship kids were still around.

Only partly agree with that. In my mind there are limits, and trying to poach a scholarship kids is beyond that limit, particularly given the precise role he has just been well paid (by the Swans) to do for the last couple of years.
Of course Roosy is doing exactly what he should be doing as the newly-appointed coach of Melbourne. His employers, and the fans, expect him to rebuild their team and of course he will look to get quality players and staff. We can hardly be surprised if he snaffles a few Swans along the way can we? It's how footy works ....
I don't know what the actual charter of the Academy is, but I would have thought it was to develop a pathway for young players to the AFL, and not necessarily just the Swans?
