Won't miss his commentary and look forward to seeing who his replacement is On The Couch. Interesting about the last 2 encumbents On The Couch. One being embroiled in a drug scandal and the other now allegedly involved in a poaching scandal. When they were both recruited to OTC they were seen as clean skins and poster boys for the game. Will Mike be gutsy enough to challenge the messiah on the issue tonight. Bring back Wallsy I say. I think seeing Mike absolutely dribbles over Leigh Matthews, he is a monty for the gig.

I think it will be Michael Voss or Luke Darcy to take Roosys spot on the couch! They are young, have strong informed opinions and are both good T.V talent. I don't think Alister Lynch excelled when he filled in for Roos mid season.

Billy Ray Cypress I have not heard you talk about Roosys annual mid season trips to the USA, and the impact of those mid season trips on the avedemy LOL

If Jude goes to Fox and not Channel Bruce, it would not surprise me one bit to see him get the gig.

As a recently retired player, he would bring that perspective to the couch.

Jude needs a bit of work on his speaking style. He's got the face, but is not a natural like Cameron Ling. Some of the Melbourne boys got a lot of practice with multiple appearances on the Footy Show. Goodes is a very eloquent speaker and should have a great post retirement career whatever he does.

Swans as a pathway and nursery for future SWANS. He also wrote to members and asked us, "to give money to, so we could unearth some home grown future Swans stars".

Do you think any Swans members would be happy to contribute knowing players could be poached by a Melbourne club.

To now try and poach one of these very such players, or at least force the Swans to delist another senior player to accommodate him, is at the very least hypocritical and unethically opportunistic, especially given the trust that the Swans placed in him...
Thanks for this post Ernie. This is exactly how I feel. Losing players as part of the normal business of AFL trade has to be accepted - what is so disappointing about this report (if true) is that Roos would be using his personal relationships as the immediate past Academy coach to woo promising young players from the Academy. Earlier in this thread I posted words from the Swans' site which describe the role of the Swans' Academy as I understood it to be. It seems this might not be correct - but if so, as Ernie has effectively pointed out, it is a misunderstanding that Roos strongly fostered and encouraged.

I'd like to see Matty Lloyd doing "On the Couch". I didn't like him much as an opposition player but he's very refreshing in the media. H's also not afraid of having an opinion on tough subjects.

The less Lloyd on tv or in the press the better. Still can't stand the guff that comes from his mouth. There must be a better option. A recently deposed coach would be better.

I dont mind Lloyd as he always rates the swans and gives them airtime which others wouldnt. Maybe golden boy could return to the couch? I really hope not, wouldnt mind seeing Bomber thompson on there if he walks away from coaching, doubt he would be interested though. Maybe Sheedy?

Matt, when you're on $300,000 to teach the kiddies to perform brain surgery, it can get quite stressful. So what better way to have some relief than to duck over to the birthplace of your wife and in-laws, during the summer months to catch up on new training techniques that are being developed in some highly secret location over there.

I believe that he may have been bringing back some Disneyland T-shirts for the Academy favourites and naturally the annual Bonanza T-shirt for "Hoss" Longmire.

Fortunately, the Academy sessions were covered by someone on a basic income and our donations most probably went to extracting that top secret training information.

They should bring our Reserves coach on board and re-name the show "On the Crouch"
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Watching on the couch tonight - the whole thing is getting worse and worse between roos and the club it seems to me.

WOW, I just came in on the last 30 seconds where Roos was talking about the major breakdown in the relationship between he and the club. Very sad...something about Stuart Dew applying for a coaching position at the Demons despite being contracted at the Swans.

Well done for Gerard Healy at the end being very firm and saying he (Roos) and the Swans need to 'break bread' and sort this out quickly as too much water has passed under the bridge.
                              Swannies for life!

Well there will be wildly varying opinions of what transpired between Roos and the Swans.

I'm sure Mug and Matt80 will have a differing interpretation to me....Mine is

Roos saying..."Oh, I've been out of coaching for 3 years, so I spoke to Armstong Re: coach hiring protocol, he said it's OK to pursue a contracted coach as long as you are offering him a more senior role."

My view Roos had this discussion with the sole objective of going after Stewie Dew, who is contracted to the Swans.

I would of thought the right way to go about that would have been to approach the Swans and seek permission to interview him, assuming Dew wants to leave. Not do it behind their back.

He went on to say "Dew applied for the job"...ie 'It's none of my making'.....Please Paul, that's poor double speak by your lofty standards, lift your game.

The other issue...Poaching Perris from the Swans academy. "I don't know what that's about, he really wants to play for the Swans. But if he chooses to go into the draft, well then he's anybodies"

My take...Roos is leaving out the, not unimportant, bit when he got into Perris's ear to suggest if he wants to go straight onto a senior list, rather than languishing on the Swans rookie list, then opt for the draft

                                and I'll draft you....Underhanded IMO.

In the 20 years Colless has run our club, I've never seen him take the long handle to a Swans, or ex Swans employee, as he has with Roos this week...

Very strange, out of character behaviour....If you were to accept Roos version of events.
