    1. Everyone's written us off and our backs are against the wall - the time when the Swans are at their most dangerous;
    2. Our forward line will be restructured, making it difficult for Lyons to plan against;
    3. McVeigh is on fire in the midfield and will probably return there this week;
    4. Jetta is fit and looking dangerous and will probably turn it up a notch this week. He'll probably be on our starting 21 and our structures will be designed to make the most of that;
    5. Our back 6 is looking solid - Teddy's playing and Grundy's in season-best form;
    6. Our midfield got their intensity back last week after a week of recovery - expect to see another level this week;
    7. With Jetta, Cunningham, Biggs and potentially B Jack in the team this week, we've got some great speed on the wide expanses of Subiaco. I expect Jesse to remain upfield as well, making breaks, using his speed and feeding it into the forward 50;
    8. The lads love the trip to Perth and some of our greatest performances have been there;
    9. Aside from a final quarter lapse when it looked in the bag, we were the better team last time we met;
    10. The weight of experience in the final weeks of September is on our side;
    11. The weight of expectation and favouritism is on their side;
    12. They've played one hard game in the last 2-odd months. Geelong are prone to sudden lapses of form and they're the only real measure of Fremantle's recent performance; and
    13. There's been no shortage of upsets this year or even in the finals series.

    If we get an early lead, I think we're in with a real shot. What I worry about most is our ability to come back from behind.
    14. We are undefeated against Fremantle in prelim finals (and all finals for that matter).
    15. Stage fright is a real human affliction

      Seriously, I will be shocked and bewildered if any of the following happens:

      1. We play Brandon Jack against a team that seeks to be one part footballer, 3 parts bully in a preliminary final;
      2. There is the utterly ridiculous event that someone who has never played AFL level football in their life gets picked to run against the most pressure-hardcore outfit in the AFL in a preliminary final on the other side of the continent.
      3. We play Armstrong, who is currently not good enough to play for the Sydney Swans and is a liability.

        Leon Cameron on AFL 360 said the Swans midfield were the only ones that could take on the Dockers midfield.

        Bomber said that Geelong always played worse after the week off.

        It should be a very exciting an unprodictable two games.

        Geelong won last 11 against Hawks.

        Will Dockers get nervous after a week off?

        That probably means Hawks-Dockers GF.
        Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

          1. I've thought the same. Not exactly an imposing presence, but I'd love to see Jesse White standing over whoever bullied him like he did for Lamb. Also hard to bully someone when they've left you 20m in their wake.

          2. Totally agree. Stranger things have happened though. Sometimes turns out well. Sometimes doesn't. I'd trust the coaching staff if they went down that path. I'd assume it was underpinned by a particular strategy.

          3. I'm afraid I agree. It's a shame because he shows some serious skills sometimes, but is far too much of a risk.

            Though it is hard to judge watching guys playing 2nd grade football, but after watching the reserves grand final, but I thought towers and Lamb look like they really know how to play this game, even more so than BOG Armstrong. Who I thought got some easy possessions. I do know one thing though, that Biggs can play! he will be a really valuable player in years to come. Surprised no one on theses forums gave him a plug after Saturday Night's Effort.

                I reckon you are on the money, but I would prefer Lamb to Cunningham in the side.

                  You have three ins and only two outs.
                  Whilst it would be great to have an extra player out there on Saturday, the AFL frown on it and we got in trouble last time we tried

                    shane biggs out
                    LRT in

                    we need LRT this week his experience in big games and his ability to hold down a key position at full forward or full back will be a must this week.

                    lamb will be in if anyone doesn't make it up on match day.

                      Freo has had a rest. Hope that this works against them as nerves will be a big part.

                      Swans are a side that most would prefer not to play when our backs are to the wall..

                      I believe that our best is good enough and we can only hope that we play to our best. (Hawks to have a big battle against the cats and have no legs for the week after!)

                      We need our best fittest 22 on the ground Lamb for Mitchell and LRT for Tippett would be my guess and feel that BJ, Towers or Membrey may have a chance..

                        LRT is not ready to slot in to the seniors as yet! I would go with Mike Pyke, Jesse White and some speedy runners in the forward line!

                        If the Swans beat Fremantle, and have to face off against Hawthorne in the GF, I would play LRT to play against the dangerous David Hail.

                        LRT needs one extra run in the reserves GF, then his ready!

                          Michael has borrowed Harry Potter's invisible coat so we should be OK.

                            Now that I've read the complete thread, the consensus view is:

                            OUT: Williams, Michael

                            IN : Morton, Harry Potter

                            Sounds good to me.

                              Will Morton and Harry Potter both wear their glasses while playing? That will befuddle Freo.
