This would lead a sizeable war chest to get him!
I wouldn't have thought either Walsh or Armstrong would be on large contracts. But regardless, if we delist them, we still have to pay them out unless they get picked up by someone else and their salaries still count in our cap.

I also imagine that the club would have factored in the likely retirements of a couple of players into their salary cap projections, so this money is probably already earmarked. And they would have expected White to have left the list by the end of this season, either as a delistee or a trade.

The Swans may have some room in their salary cap but I don't think you can just look at the players leaving this year and assume their combined salaries is free cap space to play with. Clubs project and manage their salary caps some years in advance. Players like Parker, Jetta and JPK have all been resigned this year, presumably on more money than they were on before.

He may well want to go to a Melbourne team, in a premiership window, for all we know.

From what I've read, his issue is more about the length of contract.

As for St Kilda not saying anything publicly...that doesn't mean they wouldn't go after him in a preseason draft...In fact, IMO, it would be ridiculous to think they wouldn't.
Fair call Ernie about St Kilda and their interest in White! Sydney never declared their interest in Tippett until very late and got him.

You point on Mumford is very valid, but if GWS and Mumford wanted each other, that first pick in the Pre - Season draft would be used! Mumford lives in Bondi and I really can't see what suburb in Melbourne is going to top that. He could still live in Bondi and play for GWS!

Totally made up story about how Buddy comes to the Swans

        The Buddy story:

        1. Buddy is not in it for the money, but wants to get out of Melbourne, join his mates in Sydney and be with a contender. He also wants the opportunity to play with the greatest indigenous player of our time and become his heir apparent.

        2. Hawthorn can match Sydney's offer to Buddy but come to an agreement that the Swans will trade Mummy to the Hawks for pick 17, spurning better offers from GWS. Hawthorn get pick 18 from the AFL for Franklin's compensation.

        3. So We get Buddy and pick 17 for Mummy. From the Hawks point of view it's a straight swap Buddy for Mummy.

        4. The rumours about Reid going to Collingwood as well as White are true, as we have to make salary room for Buddy. Lamb and Armstrong are also moved on. We get pick 10 from Collingwood, giving us 3 1st round picks this year. Future sealed.

        5. Swans v. Hawks in the next 5 Grand Finals.

        6. End of story.

Well, I didn't know Jude was Whites manager....

Surely Jude will look after us better than a Wobbles 3rd rounder..?!

              I got faith in Jude....

Sharpen your pencil Wobbles, it's going to cost more than that.

I'd let Jesse walk to the PSD for a 3rd rounder. It's totally useless to us.

All can add to this cesspit of innuendo is that I was told by a person, over the Weekend, with close connections to the Club, expect a big Sydney Swans story to be headline news this week and that iits good news and not bad news.

The person would not divulge any more infortmation and was sworn to secrecy.

Make of that what you will.

                    Paul returned Richard's call?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Richard Colless and Paul Roos are announcing that they have had a love child. Looks like Barry Hall but has more hair.
