Hi, I'm not much of a poster, but follow this forum and also rely on my 30 years of swans supporting too base my opinions .

with all the current uncertainty about our recent expensive inclusions.

I think we are a forward thinking club that does not hand out easy games. Players like lockyer, x Richards, towers, membrey, etc..I've missed a few guns in there. no free games, when its your turn your ready. Its your spot..don't lose it. that's why for 20 yrs we have been a successful team orientated side. The thing that I LOVE for over 35 years. is that SOUTH is the :" Play for the jumper, the
CLUB and the MAN...and the family of course " I use it my own career and its my philosophy for life. GO SWANS

Don't know much about George, Zak Jones seems a good type and Nankervis also. A bit disappointed we missed a chance to nab Acres, Taylor and Kennedy - Harris though. They all seem like very likely types.

One of the above mentioned , obviously we couldn't have nabbed all of them.

Alternatively, the fact that no other club was interested in them suggests they are raw types (Marsh especially, I know nothing about Langdon) who are boom or bust types players. Marsh is certainly quick but he looks to be a long way from being an AFL player. Any pick at that end of the draft is somewhat speculative.

Attack out of the backline is very very important for us in years to come and in the near future we are skinny on a small hard at agile rebounding defender hence Zak Jones

Zak could also easily move into the midfield in years to come

              1. Shaw 32 and a major injury

              2. Mal 30 and maybe only a year or two left in Nicko

              3. Cunningham trialled there in ressies but just seems such a natural attacking player

              4. Towers had a few games there in ressies but also seems to be attack attack attack

              5. Smithy a great defender but not a rebounder in comparison to the best in the comp

              6. Rampe could become a rebounding defender but not as fast and zippy as an agile Zak Jones...........and i have still ear marked Rampe for 50% up in the midfield type role like Mal in the future

              ......................

re Hewett just a brilliant pick and the guy is all quality in his decision making and hard ball gets.......the kid has a great kick on him and vision......Macca McVeigh Junior in my opinion !

              .....................

              Ruckman -
ideally we dont want Tippett in the ruck too much so anything we can do to develop some ruckmen > 4 out of the 5 can push forward and more then hold there own

              Pyke
              Tip
              Tom
              Sam
              Narnkevis
              Mitchell

remembering this could be the last year of Adam Goodes...........leaving Tip, Buddy and Reid rotating thru the forward line and if any of these 3 go down we need a tall target that is mobile and Tom and Narnkevis appear reasonably mobile

              ...................

Alir Alir - well there is rarely a dull moment in our clubs vision and sometimes slightly left field thinking...........The kid only started at 14 or 15 and only played ruck till 2013 where he learnt a new trade in the backs............looked ok and i guess we have been very successful so far in transitioning a mature age Teddy and Reg into KPPs......so why not Alir

for me i had a real bias to pick Marsh but we have Rohan, BJ and Towers who are real jack out of the box forwards along with Jetta probably spending more time up front so where would Marsh fit in ?

              ...................

The future of our midfield in years to come is looking willing and able !

              Kennedy
              K.Jack
              Parker
              Mitchell
              Hannes
              Jetta
              Perris
              Hewett
              B.Jack

potentially Cunningham, Lloyd, Robinson and Harrison Marsh as a project tall midfielder

After reading more profiles of our draftees

Jones - small defender or tagger in the early part of his career
Hewett - very young! Dec 29 birthday which means he won't turn 18 for another month. Looks to be one for the long term
Nankervis - don't pigeonhole him as a ruckman looks to have the skill set to play as a tall forward who can provide a chop out for the number one ruck. Will be interesting to see how Crouch juggles Nankervis with Naismith, Derickx and PMitchell in the ressies
Aliir - haven't found too much on him football wise. Seems like a project player

Aliir is incredibly raw but 196cm and super quick. We must back ourselves to get his skills and game sense up. Hope it works out, would be a great story.

Just saying, that if you were going to take a 2 year project player, why not Marsh or Darcy Hourigan (who can play defence), rather than the absolute rawest of players that can easily be picked up as a rookie. We could have elevated Biggs and taken Aliir in the rookie draft if we wanted to cap the total player numbers. We even could have taken Derickx as a rookie. Doubt anyone else was going to pick him up.

I am very pleased with the first 3 picks, but I think something got messed up on the accounting side of things with Beatson and Co. If we were ready to take Nankervis at pick 35, we really didn't need Derickx, especially on the senior list. It wasn't a great draft for key defenders anyway, but I feel we could have given ourselves a somewhat better chance. Who knows what Aliir could be in a couple of years and it could be talked about as a stroke of drafting brilliance.

Everyone was so panicky with the ruck situation after losing Mummy. Fair enough! But it seems a bit of overkill to add 3 ruckmen to the list in one year.

were do most think that LLYOD PERRIS would have ended up in the draft based on what you have seen in the top40 picks

given that Perris was named in the all australian team i am guessing that he actually may have gone before pick 32 ??

Wait who's the third? Derickx, Nankervis and...?

I guess it's no coincidence Hewett's ex-coach at North Adelaide is now on staff. He looks sharp in the video.

With Derickx, Nankervis and Aliir we're certainly don't lack for talls. Throw in P. Mitchell, Walsh, Naismith and X and it seems like a lot.

My suggestion is BONBON, despite the fact it conjures up an image of a nubile young lady with plenty of money and a well developed taste for liquor, cultivated from an early age.

Bring back memories of NobNob... But I digress. SOB hasn't really caught on with Tom Mitchell so perhaps BON won't either.
