I dunno when we have all 3 ie; buddy, Tippet & Reid up front and firing with Goodes, Rohen, jetta etc running just behind them- the opposition will be second guessing as to who to double or triple mark leaving one or two to roam free - give it some time to click - and it will!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Agreed. Need time to gel. They haven't even played a game together yet.

I predict a couple more really bad games though...

Some wise words here by Micky. And worth looking at the video as a reminder of that trademark Buddy first goal. We have seen him do that so many times for Hawthorn. I had to pinch myself to believe he was doing it in the R&W. I think we will see some exciting play from Buddy in coming weeks.

Lol at the bottom picture of Buddy being "well held" by Phil Davis.

It's actually beautiful form from Davis, note the exaggerated bent back wrist so on quick glance an ump doesn't see a chance of calling him for having a handful of jumper.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

A great article re Buddy in The Guardian titled ' Is it time for Lance Franklin to re-invent himself'.
Maybe someone could post the link for others to read?

Looking at the photo of Phil Davis and Franklin, how is this legal? Davis has a massive clamp around Franklin's body. You see so many instances where a player is being held without the ball and they get away with it. Coupled with all the other scragging going on, no wonder players like Hall and Franklin are reported when they get so frustrated. I wish the umpires would clean this up.

Great article, but don't underrate Buddy 's marking ability! He out-marked Ted Richards in the 2012 GF and would have had ROK's Norm Smith if he had kicked straight!

Noticed that his great mate and party companion Kurtly Beele was man of the match in the recent Waratahs game at the SFS! This will inspire Buddy to find top form!

The key to the Swans' forward line will be trying to stop the combination of Tippett, Reid and Buddy. Tippett will give Buddy a lot more freedom to roam.

Exactly. Imagine then Kennedy and jack and mcglynn crumbing off them. If we can get it right it can be very right!!

With this afternoon's news that Ted has signed on for another year, is there a list anywhere with all the players contract expiry listed so we can see when each player's contract ends? I recall one was previously listed on this forum.

I ask because the sentence towards the end of the Ted re-signs article states, "McVeigh and Richards join a growing list of recently signed players. The list includes Josh Kennedy, Kieren Jack, Dan Hannebery, Gary Rohan, Sam Reid, Nick Smith and Ben McGlynn." (Reid signed his contract in December 2011 and Jack, Kennedy and Hannerbery in in early 2013, can they be called recent signings?)

With all the recent talk in the media that we will lose our players due to buddy, who are out of contract soon and when? Not signed for next year are Goodes, Malceski & O'Keefe but what about next year?

I had a call from my 70yo uncle last night.. He has been an AFL lover and umpire since the 50's.. He grew up in Sydneys west and has supported the Swans since they moved up to Sydney. He called to tell me that he is leaving the Swans for GWS. That the whole Buddy deal is very un-Swans like. I couldn't argue. I have been on the fence about the whole thing but am starting to think why the $%^ did we do it.. If Buddy wanted to play for us why the hell did we have to pay the ridiculous money we did.. Give him a 3 year contract like is sensible.. I can see wilderness years to come.. I just hope the Swans can make some hay in the meantime........
