I'd like someone from Sydney to get the gig. Imagine the ruckus. Richard Colless - what are you doing now?

He would be an inappropriate, tragic, laughable choice.....IMO.

I agree Eddie isn't very responsible and doesn't think things through. Would initially have success, but in the long-term the game would suffer. A massive ego and I think if he reigns over a successful AFL competition as CEO, he wouldn't leave a successor after he leaves.

As much as people like to trash talk Demetriou, I don't think he has much of an ego nor is he an attention seeker. He will leave the AFL in a stronger state than when he arrived. I'm sure that after he leaves the comp will prosper, because he will help establish a suitable replacement.

Richard Colless would make an excellent CEO.

He achieved what many would have thought in 1993 was impossible.

I noticed that on the AFL website an article on The 15 biggest challenges the next AFL CEO, and the COLA was not on the list. Perhaps it's because they expect it to be resolved this year. Anyway, on the list was this item:

                8. The Sydney market
The NRL has a $1 billion broadcast agreement of its own, and the league has established an independent commission to govern the game, which posted a record profit in 2013. With its heartland in Sydney, the NRL anticipates rugby league being the highest participation sport in the country in five years, presenting a significant challenge for the AFL in NSW.

The AFL have a war on their hands and a successful Swans team is their most potent weapon. I don't know what will happen with the COLA, but AD has always put the Sydney market at the top of his priority list, and I don't expect that to change in the future.

Tip is the next boss MAY come from outside the AFL ranks.

Eddie Maquire has publicly ruled himself out! The AFL has been spending a lot of time in the USA recently looking at how the mighty NFL system works! I'm sure their would be some candidates in the NFL system who would be considered by the AFL. The AFL have been very impressed by the NFL system, particularly their Super Bowl Championship Game.

I'm still for Gillian, but a no baggage NFL superstar administrator would be the next best option after Gillian!

Suggesting the future Australian of the year promote a stage show, a week after an unsavory incident ... Eddie simply DOESN'T think.

Man... I can't imagine how much uproar there will be from the bogans if a guy with an American accent became the CEO of the Australian game. I think it'd be extremely interesting though.

I think the AFL is correct to study how the NFL go about their business rather than soccer in Europe. The NFL and AFL have more similarities than people think.

Do we really want to get to the stage where its all about the half time tv ads and entertainment with a football game thrown in?

So you prefer crappy commercials and a Grand Final sprint?

I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind if they Americanized the in-between game sections a bit.

The NFL have more time to show commercials than the AFL as they have so many stoppages in gridiron. I seriously doubt it will come to that in the AFL.
