    Jesse

Does anybody else wince at the prospect of Jesse White in Black and White leading ,marking and goaling like a pro? We made him and he finally clicked ,then we let him go , no doubt due to recruiting Buddy and Kurt. I wish him well personally but to see him in the Pies guernsey will affect me much more than say Jolly.

I doubt Buddy's recruitment had anything to do with Jesse leaving, pretty sure after being hawked around the year before, he was on his way out anyway. Even without Buddy, there was barely a spot for him with a fit Tippo, Goodes and Sam, so he would have been making plans to get on the move mid season, hence he finally pulled his finger out to enhance his value...

I always liked Jesse White and it's good to see him doing some good work at his new club. He never quite got going in 2011 or 2012 and the coaches were quite ruthless on him. I remember a game at the SCG in 2011 in the wet against Carlton, when it almost happened for Jesse. At full sprint he picked up the ball with one hand in the wet, sprinted towards goal and his shot hit the post. His pick up with one hand in those conditions was incredible. It would have been a special goal if it had gone through and would have lifted his confidence. He ended up having a dirty night from there when Michael Jamison beat him, and he was subbed out early and banished to the reserves for a period. I believed Jesse's Swans career would have been different if that shot had snuck in!

Two years later that athleticism was on show against the Crows in an almost similar situation, and the shot sailed through and ignited his season. By that time though he knew that his Swans career was ending

I think for the next 3 years he will be very effective for Collingwood and will probably average 35 goals a season and give great support to Travis Cloke.

Best qualities Jesse has are his durability and fitness. He has great speed for his size and is rarely injured.

He might not be a Tippett or Buddy but he'll always be on the park.

Except for round 1 2014 when he was injured...

Does anyone else notice that since White has gone to Collingwood he's being talked about in the press as though he's a superstar. "Jesse White to miss", "Couldn't expect to beat Freo without Ben Reid and Jesse White", "Big Guns to return". When he played with us it seemed to be "Fringe players White and Armstrong make way for regulars at the Swans", "White injured but Swans still at full strength". I gotta get me one of those Black and White striped magic guernseys!

Love it. If Jesse doesn't get up for this one he never will.

I'm a Jesse fan, but, yes I noticed that too. One of the commentators after the Freo match even suggested that the result would have been different had Reid and White played. He's got a lot of potential and had a great 2013, but he wouldn't have been in our best 22 this year without injury or significant improvement. To suggest he's a superstar capable of single-handedly turning around a 70 point deficit is a bit of a stretch.

Lol yes, but it is rare to see White injured. Having said that I think Collingwood ferals will be disappointed if they're expecting him to be some kind of hero.

Good to hear former Swans players doing well. Everett played very well for Carlton against Richmond last night

Yeah, very funny. If we ever said we were going to get White back to strengthen our line-up, we would've been laughed at!

In fairness, most Collingwood supporters I have spoken to seem fairly realistic about what he's going to deliver. It's just the ordinary media and the attention Collingwood attracts.

We should all be positive about whatever success Jesse White can have at Collingwood. The Swans have taken recycled players from other clubs such as Josh Kennedy and Ted Richards and they have become vital parts of our team.

Some on this forum laugh about Jesse White being labelled as a key inclusion for the Pies.

The Hawks fans would not have thought much of Josh Kennedy?s early years at the Hawks. What Josh needed was a coach and a club that appreciated his talents, had a role for him, and made him feel that he is a vital part of the team. Josh responded and is now amongst the best players in the AFL.

Jesse now has a club with a clear role for him, a coach who believes that he can have a great impact, and a club ready to embrace him. Let?s all wish him well and hope that he can be as dynamic for the Pies as our recycled stars like Josh Kennedy and Ted Richards are for us.

Can we hope for a little less than that?

How about the 'occasional' dynamic performance, like he gave us.

A little mean spirited I know....But after watching Mummy and Everitt hitting their straps, I can't take much more.

Jesse and Joey's situations could barely be further apart.

Kennedy was a young fella behind a gun midfield and moved for the opportunity to play seniors footy.

Jesse was a 6-year player in a era of an often dysfunctional forward line who continually failed to grasp opportunities when presented to him...
