gee i hope we are not doing a west coast or adelaide of 2013 ?

    dive dive dive

it was a real worry when all our indicators were level at 3qtr time but that was playing with an extra one or two players on the ball as they had defenders playing loose

it would be fair to say that Longmire is fully aware of needing more speed

He has stuck with Cunningham to get him up to where he needs to be by the last rounds of the season it appears

But i must say that our counter attack is so slow that teams will do what the pies did last night and simply have loose defenders waiting for our horrible forward entries

Teams will also know that if we cant counter attack fast because our backline is so slow then they can try and force us to use hands thru the middle and the better teams will nail us right now in this area too

McVeigh was trying to do this but Collingwood was well aware of the tactic and McVeigh's man was always on him

Maybe now I will get my wish and see Naismith elevated ( to replace Derickx assuming he gets a week or two)

I would also bring towers in for ROK. I would give Rohan a rest in the twos even if he is fit to play and put Cunningham on the wing. I would then bring bird back in to run on and make Brandon jack the sub. Gotta have a sub with pace and bird is an unrecognised accumulator accross hb along with mcveigh. We missed him.

          Summary
          OUT: ROK Derrickx Rohan
          IN: Towers Naismith B. Jack

Shaw delisted! I don't care how much run he gives, his disposal and decision making is the worst in the AFL! Perhaps Towers or even the youngster Jones could come in for him. Couldn't be any worse. Also a forward structure would be a nice addition!

I'm with Ernie Koala, changing game day team list is only tinkering at the edges. Our midfield is way off the pace of league's best mid season 2013, and if last night is to go by the forward structure is pretty much non-existent.

[QUOTE=Melbournehammer;635917]I think rok will get dropped but tbh I can't see who else because I can't see what is in the reserves that comes in. Bjack and towers seem both to be Gary Rohan clones so that's a waste of a resource. Laidler doesn't give you any more run but shouldn't have been dropped in the first place.

The real problems are at the hb line and on the ball.

Although I think they love Rohan as a hff because of his pressure I would play him as a mattner replacement - but you don't do that two weeks into a season.

I would play Rohan on Patrick Dangerfield. Get him to tag Dangerfield as he has the pace and defensive skills to go with him. He can also hurt Dangerfield the other way. Give Rohan a big job and say to him that it's time for him to become an elite player. Bring in a Towers or B. Jack to take Rohan's place up forward. You will have to drop a Craig Bird or ROK for the big Adelaide Oval.

Its not good to hear that rohan might be injured again, but if i was coach, i would have dropped him anyway.

I like the kid, and maybe I missed it at the ground, but I really failed to see what he is adding to the team. To me he still looks nervous about his body and isnt getting anywhere enough of the pill to have any noticeable effect on the game.

He needs a good 3 months in the reserves imo to build back towards what he was like before the injury, as imo he is being carried in the 1sts at the moment and in modern footy you can not do that.

Play Rohan on Dangerfield and see if he lifts for a big job!

Really? I thought he was positively putrid, turning it over all night by hand, foot and just outright spilling the ball straight into their hands.

I'm happy to see him remain in the side for what he gives us in run, but last night was a true stinker...

Play Rohan as a tagger? Surely that would be a pretty silly idea! As quick as he is, putting him on Dangerfield would surely be asking a hell of a lot. Its not lack of effort with Rohan, its just a lack of confidence in himself, and frankly a lack of form as well. Give him time in the 2nds where he can rebuild his confidence in his body and his footy.

I love the kid, but I'm also a realist, and to me he isn't doing enough to warrant his spot.
Last night he had 8 disposal (6 kicks, 2 handballs), 1 Mark, 25% disposal efficiency, 6 tackles, 3 1%ers and 1 behind for the night. I know he was injured by the sounds of it, but then last match against GWS he had: 9 disposals (5 kicks, 4 handballs), 2 Marks, 3 clangers, 4 tackles, 66% disposal efficiency for 1 goal, 1 behind.

I love his tackling presence around the ground, but surely on those numbers alone, he really isn't doing enough to be earning his spot. I don't expect him to get 40 touches and to dominate a match. But he should be getting 15-20 disposals a game, and if he is going to be playing more up front, has to be getting something on the board to go with it.

Its harsh on the kid, but it would be better for him in the long run imo to get his form back in the 2s.

Rohan is adding absolutely nothing, needs to play a month in the reserves.

Although Rohan's bad miss for goal and lack of possessions was not great, his pressure was one of the good things I took from the game. He certainly does need to get more of the ball, but if he's fit, I would continue to play him up forward for a while and see how it goes.

There's a lot more that need's fixing than just making a few personnel changes. We just can't score enough because we can't string together 4 or 5 disposals without turning the ball over. We look like a team that's just started training together a couple of weeks ago. It's hard to know what to do.

At the news conference, Horse looked like he just came from a funeral. He could have been reporting on Flight MH-370. He knows we are in serious trouble.

At a minimum, ROK and Derickx have to go. Laidler should come back in; he's not quick, but at least he can kick long and straight. He can take Lewis Johnston, who is also not that quick or tall.

I think this will be Shaw's last year. Whether we cut him now or later is hard to say, but personally, I can't see the point of pressing on with him when he's clearly on the same path as ROK. We might as well train up his replacement now.

I'm not sure LRT is the answer to anything as well, even if fit.

Nothing will matter much if we keep fumbling the ball and kicking straight to the opposition.

And that's the crux of the problem. We could be a team made up of all stars, but if keep turning it over like we did last night, we don't have a hope.
