Haven't had a proper whipping boy since Mathews, but if Derrickx keeps getting picked he's well on the way.

The guy is a liability. Kicks when he should pass - passes when he should kick - free kicks galore - turns it over like a @@@@. The only thing he does that I like is hit hard in tackles, but he is no Mummy.

    - - - Updated - - -

I cannot believe @@@@ is blocked!
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Someone on bigfooty mentioned Kieran Jack was holding his ribs during the team song and reckon his ribs are broken.

If we rest anyone for a week I think K. Jack needs it.

People have talked about the way we need to rest our midfield and manage our good players through the season.

With this in mind I would leave Kiran Jack out of the team to rest those ribs, and make Josh Kennedy a sub over one of the next two weeks to freshen him up.

More time in the midfield for Bird, Parker, Lloyd.

Hopefully this will have Jack and Kennedy primed for Geelong and the Hawks.

If Goodes was to come back it would be like that Paul Kelly surprise comeback in the 90. I see him playing in the reserves to build up his intensity.

        In - Tippett, Towers
        Out K.Jack, Tom D

I think the idea of bringing both Goodes and Tippett into a side still trying to find its feet is folly. Yesterday's win was tremendous but was due far more to endeavour and ferocity than skill or structure. There's still a huge amount to work on and putting in two players, even of the calibre of Goodsey and Tippett, into a side when they've barely trained with the side for months could upset what little flow the team has now found.

Be a bit surprised if Derickx was dropped on that form. Don't think Pyke's fitness and form is enough to have one ruckman, Derrickx is a better ruck option than LRT

If Tippett was to come in LRT might be at risk. Sentiment will play it's part I am sure

If there's any truth in this rumour I agree with resting him, and give Lloyd a complete game.
And although I was watching the TV and not there, I liked what I saw of BJ - working hard, outsmarting his oppo for a neat conversion - and would like to give him further experience.
I agree with those who would swap Derickx for Nanny, because the idea of Tippett doing serious ruck time bothers me at this stage.
              So, outs: Kieren, Derickx
              ins: Nanny, Tippett.
If Goodes is available I'd like to see him as the SuperSub against weaker opponents, maybe spell Brandon. Hard to pick who would make way for him, whoever it was would be very unlucky.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Was there a reason from the club why Tippett only played the first half? I watched the reserves and i thought it was because of the slight concussion he may have received in the marking contest where Nankervis (Or was it Mitchell) crashed the pack on to of Tippett which left him down for a good period of time.

Speaking of Nankervis, the guy is an absolute gun. Could be another Mummy the way he gets down and dirty in the trenches. Good runner and gets in the right places. Would love to see him in for Derickx if Tippett doesn't play this week.

I'd love to see nankervis get a game against Melbourne. Perfect opportunity to blood him.

Other ins are Tippett for bj.

Now what about goodes. Mmm maybe if Keiren jack is sore with ribs then he is rested and Lloyd plays his role meaning goodes can be sub.

IN : Tippett nankervis goodes (sub)

                  OUT: BJ Derickx Kieren jack

That looks a little unbalanced but remember I propose j Lloyd plays the whole game In place of Kieren and nanko is a like for like replacement of derrickx so there's really only one more tall in Tippett. With a tall super sub. Not ideal but gotta get these players in somehow.

Longmire would be kidding himself if he was considering giving Goodes a game after a year out of the game. He's notoriously slow at finding form after injury, I know he's Goodesy but I'd give him a few runs in the magoos

Goodes would draw a good crowd playing in Mackay next week so I reckon that's what they'll do!

Balance, balance, balance. We didn't have it last week against Norf in the wet and it cost us so any changes this week need to be BALANCED.

If Tippett comes in it will be as a non rucking FF so he can run out the game and protect his knees. LRT is in danger of being in Mackay.

Nankervis needs to be rewarded so it's the big ruck spud out. Melbourne and Brisbane are ideal first games for Nankers.

If KJ is rested then we need another midfielder, Lloyd to start handing the green vest to ............. Goodes. Problem solved and balance maintained.

In the press conference Longmire mentioned Tippett got a knee in the back; he didn't mention a head knock.

Another idea on how to use Goodes. When he is fit, use him in the Jeremy Laidler 3rd Back Tall roll. His height, pace intercept marking ability, football smarts and ability to provide drive out of the Backline would be a tremendous asset in that position. He would link well with Rampe, Smith, Malceski and Shaw to provide good drive, carry and delivery.

With the forward line looking like being built around Tippett, Franklin and Reid, we don't need any more tall's in the forward line.

Anyone have any thoughts on Rhino? Was he selected for the twos? Is he injured? Being rested? Dummy spit??
Or did I miss an announcement?

Tippet will be the only in. Maybe goodes as sub but I doubt youd take two underdone players in at once.

The next two games against dees and lions are where we must find consistant form, so best 22 for each game. No resting players.

Goodes was tried as a defender under Roos and Eade. Doesnt work. Half forward wuth spells in the midfield is where hes needed.

Rough on Lloyd, but they'll want to keep Jack's pace in the forward 50. Unfortunately, it sounds like Rohan didn't fare too well in the Reserves.
If that happens will be an interesting test for the 800K man with the 3 big gun forwards playing.
