Both Melbourne and Brisbane should be easy games. Although I don't think we should let up with our intensity, it is a good opportunity to try a few things with personnel.

I agree that we should play Goodes in the ressies one week with the hope of playing him as the sub for the Brisbane game.

After watching the replay, I was far more impressed with Lloyd. He gets amongst it allright. He's not big, but he's in and under and doesn't shun a tackle. I think he should be given a full game.

Tom D makes an effort, but too many mistakes and can't see him making staying in the team long-term, unless injury dictates otherwise.
I would give Nanny the next couple of games in his stead. Melbourne and Brisbane are down in ruck stocks and it shouldn't be like throwing him in against Sandi or Cox. A good opportunity to broaden our ruck choices as the season unfolds.

There was a mention that KJ did injure his ribs, but who we probably won't know until Monday how seriously.

I didn't think BJ offered that much, although he is good for an exciting cameo, like his goal yesterday. A lot of the play skirts around him, as compared to Lloyd, who gets right into it.

I would drop BJ for Biggs and if KJ doesn't come up, Tower for a sub role.

[QUOTE=royboy42;638010]Anyone have any thoughts on Rhino? Was he selected for the twos? Is he injured? Being rested? Dummy spit??
Or did I miss an announcement?[/QUOTE

I think if he can't get back into the seniors in the next 6 weeks, then he would be looking at the Tour De France Dates.

He could announce his retirement then go and ride in the Tour De France. He would enjoy the scenery, cheese and fitness and reflect on a great career in football. Better than smart arse kids in the NAFL!

I'm with you on that. It's all about the effort.

I'm sure Goodes is no chance to come back into the As. Love the idea of him running around in the twos in Mackay.

BJ's pressure was outstanding. I reckon he played exactly the role he was brought in to play. I'd absolutely keep him in the side, and I would also like to see Lloyd get a full game.

How far is Sam Reid away? I thought he may be in consideration for the Brisbane game.

What about Tom Mitchell. He will be fit and in consideration at some time.

Judging by the Tippett precedent, I think Goodes will play one or two games in the reserves.

I don't think the Demons can play the $800,000 man forward this week as we will have Franklin and Tippett in the forward line

It's a mystery.. wasn't picked for the reserves. No official word. I was surprised no one questioned Longmire about it in his post-match press conference.

To be honest there is nothing to be gained for the team or ROK for him to play in the ressies. It's not like he's down on form or coming back from injury. He's just off the pace and the truth is that is unlikely to return. The only thing that rok can gain from the neafl is some match practice if he is needed to cover for any injuries in the weeks to come

ROK was the senior emergency. He would not play in the reserve in case some accidents happened last minute and he would be required to play in the seniors. As we have seen in the past at least one emergency player would only play one or two Quarters max in a curtain raiser and stay ready for the "emergency" situation.
In the case of ROK, I cannot see any benefits for him to play 1 Quarter in the Reserve Team. He has nothing to prove. All he lacks is pace and it will not improve by playing against some younger opponents.

ROK could find a new role for himself as the permanent travelling emergency, which lets the younger players not picked in the side to have full games in the reserves.

I'm sure he would dominate in the reserves. As has been said, not much point.

The next two games against dees and lions are where we must find consistant form, so best 22 for each game. No resting players.

Goodes was tried as a defender under Roos and Eade. Doesnt work. Half forward wuth spells in the midfield is where hes needed.
I think that's a little harsh. Goodes played CHB in 2004 for Paul Roos, when he was playing through a torn PCL injury. Goodes did not have great acceleration due to this injury. It's hard to be a back without your acceleration.

I played a little bit at fullback for Eade and I remember one game against the Western Bulldogs, where he kicked four 2nd quarter goals running forward from fullback.

He would be a more effective 3rd tall than Jeremy Liadler and would ad a lot to the position.

Sorry meant Goodes and not I.

                          In. Tippett . Nanverkis

I like what I read on this thread the people know what the team is missing and yes tobby is the missing link the swans need. He is a wonderful pick up and if an year older I would drop the Canadian and start nanverkis but this year is his development year and the signs are very good.

Rohan is not right I saw him play on the weekend and he still looks like 1 qrt is his Max his leg is not right and maybe another year until rohan best.

Goodes we don't expect back until the second half of the year . We just need to find out what others have first.

The player we need in against Melbourne are, bj , towers we need to give towers a run names emergency every week he must be the next off the rack.
Also we are missing a tall fast center option and tower , or marsh are the players we need to take the next steps.

Also mebrey I watch him everyweek the guy is a gun but need his defensive skills improved in the forward line and would be a wonderful small forward.

We need to blood a few more mid in the next few weeks to help the team out.

Wonderful performance on the weekend rest up guy we look forward to playing Melbourne this week.

This club has carefully built a culture of earning a senior call up, not getting one by being 'blooded'. Jake Lloyd earned his after more than a season of consistently solid reserve team performances. We just played our best match of the year against the Dockers and the current XXII deserve to be the XXII picked unless there are senior players returning from injury who are ready to go.
