No wonder Eddie is calling for it to be the year of the fan. It's very clear that both the Hawks and Swans teams have captured the hearts of Melbourne AFL fans. There is a difference of 15,000 fans between the two games. This would send fear into both Essendon and Collingwood.

It also shows that the Swans are not disliked in Melbourne as much as what some people might think.

And nothing to do with the timing of the game?

3.30pm on a Sunday Afternoon was the first bounce of the Essendon and Collingwood game.

Does that timeslot create a massive difference in attendance? What is the deal with people not liking Sunday night, because they have to get the kids ready?

I've got a four year old and my wife will support me whenever I get a chance to go to the Football. I've recently looked after my four year old for 10 days solo (my mum did help) when my wife was overseas on Business.

Does reciprocity need to start setting in? Are wives and husbands letting their spouses go to the football enough?

From memory it was a cold and wet afternoon as well, which would have swayed some people.

It wasn't a real flash day in Melbourne leading up to the Swans-Hawks game. Showers all day and no guarantee it would stay fine for the night.

                Pretty much sums it up.

Whilst Matt is annoying to some, you don't have to read his posts. You can skip over them. You can put him on ignore.
I don't have that option. I just skip the post or read it. (Not always related to Matt BTW.)

Too many threads, like this one have moved off topic then occasionally come back.
We are now going to start enforcing the On Topic rule a bit stricter, to stop people getting upset.
If things get a little carried away the posts may be split out, which can be a time consuming and not always accurate.
OR, we'll just move/remove the whole thread without warning.

All are free to post there opinions.
You are free to disagree or agree.
As usual, it is the post you should debate, not the person.

We (mods) are few and not always around 24/7.
We do our best to accommodate all. Sometimes this is difficult and we have to step on some toes or point fingers.

If you think a post is a troll, report it and we will take care of it, IF WE DECIDE it is warranted.

Don't make our job harder than it already is.

                Thanks all.

The thread is now open again for posts relevant (even slightly) to the issue that started it - Eddie's attacks on the Swans and the Swans' responses. Posts generally idolising or bagging McGuire or discussing the Recruit or other miscellaneous rumblings can be found in The Sandpit if people want to continue along those lines.

Thread discussing how / whether to ignore a poster that you don't like or find irritating have been deleted, effectively replaced by Scott's post above.

If you think I've left something behind that no longer belongs, feel free to let the moderators know. The criteria of what to move and what to leave weren't overly sophisticated and there might have been some collateral damage.

Please try to keep this (and other) threads approximately on track. Further posts that threaten to derail this (or other) threads will just be deleted, not moved. It's too time consuming to move them. If you want to have a discussion on a non-Swans related matter, please do so on one of the other many forums available. That keeps this forum for those who really just want to talk about all things Swans and that affect the Swans.

Noticed Eddie make some snide comment after the game on Fox re liking Reid to join his brother at Collingwood. Something along the lines of: "But of course we have a cap .......

Yes I heard him say "cap" but I didn't hear the full sentence...I just assumed he was making another snide remark. The other panelist, (I can't remember his name but he is on the ABC), mentioned that Reid should be dropped because he adds nothing and that's when I heard Eddie say he can come and play with his brother.

Also on Ed & Derms lovefest Julian Destoop pointed out Adam's 'diving' to get a free kick. Ed's comment was something along the lines of 'This is not coming from me'.
Seems he has taken to getting everyone else to criticize the Swans, but still gets his dig in while at the same time not even mentioning the words Sydney Swans

It's amazing the amount of times people external to the club have said we should drop Reid...ridiculous!

He plays arguably the hardest role on the field and does it pretty well week in and week out, people need to realise it is very rarely his job to kick goals anymore. I'd hazard a guess and say that he is one of the first picked at selection every Thursday night...his pressure around the ground, his back-up ruck-work and his odd high flying mark are all invaluable.

He is visibly still learning to play the floating into the backline role and once he can improve this and start clunking some defensive 50 marks he will become just about our most important player.

That was Maclure, who has decided he doesn't like the way Sam plays.

He's just looking for a point of difference, it's just more unresearched, ill thought through fodder.

If he actually did his homework and looked more holistically at the job Sam does for the team, he may have a different view...

Lets all just agree that mcguire is a double chinned duffus who does nothing for the game, and got run out of sydney for gross mismamagement of one of the countries media icons.
