Unfortunately, I don't think WCE and GC can both make the 8, so the best we can hope for is 5.

And i also can't see north missing out, but as long as Collingwood miss I'll be happy.

I'd be happy for the pies to make the 8.
It is more devastating to be belted in week 1 of the finals than to miss them altogether.

On the other hand, if they miss the eight we can tell Eddie they're tanking!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Eddie's put in a blinder this year, one fabulously stupid remark after another. If the Pies miss the finals I'm sure he'll give us a reaction we'll savour.

Looking forward to the day when we have a Swans v GWS grand final at ANZ stadium now wouldn't that just be the best thing ever. Having Swans v WCE in consecutive grand finals was sweet but an all Sydney grand final that just is dreamworld.
You will be waiting a long time. I believe the AFL deal with the MCC requires the grand final to be at the MCG until 2040. This deal was an extension of the deal done when the current Southern Stand was built, which required the grand final there until 2030. It was extended when the last rebuild was done.

The AFL and MCC don't care if there are two non Victorian clubs there - they will still sell all the tickets. Been done before (remember 2005 and 2006).

Maybe Collingwood are tanking so they can get F/S prospect Darcy Moore with a second round pick. Eddie's more interested in winning the Academy
                  Wars than the premiership.

What's the bet he goes on a media rant, this week. Something along the lines of....

"If we had the advantages the Swans have ,salary cap, all those stars from their academy, we'd have the depth to cover the injuries, it's a rort! blah blah blah"

I find it interesting the after the Geelong thrashing, which was more about how bad Geelong was than how good we were, we haven't really belted a good side again.
Sure we've dumped on the blues and the saints this week.

But the day after the cats game all hell broke loose coz the sky was falling in.
Whilst we have been kicking winning scores with our "Bondi Billionaires", our wins have been mainly on the back of our poor cousins, the back six.
                          Look at the scores against!!

The same happened when West Coast first came into the comp, everyone complained that is would be each team v one state.
No other team could beat them.
Then the Lions won 3 in a row. The eagles were going to dominate through the mid 00's, but a team of cortinas managed to beat them.

Whenever a team looks like dominating for a period, someone arks up and has a spit.
Lately it's been the massive purple head!!

While i expect us to dominate for a few more years, there is nothing to say that we will not crash and burn every so often.
This team will not be together in few more years. players come and go. That's AFL life. We may get some roses we may get some thorns.

A totally realistic perspective, which is totally lost on Eddie.

I see Collingwood dropped Jesse White for yesterday's match. But poor Tony Armstrong played 8 quarters of football. A full match for the Collingwood VFL team playing down at Geelong, then drove back to Melbourne, had a plate of pasta, went to the MCG expecting to be second emergency, and in a blink of an eye became the sub who had to take to the field 4 minutes into the match. Bet he's sore today.
