Goodesy has been staging too often this year. But he is being singled out because McGuire and Brereton don't like him.

McGuire because of the arse he made of himself last year, RE Goodsey.

Brereton has always been critical of Goodsey, even after the 2012 GF he labeled Goodsey soft, regardless of playing on with a busted knee,

said he doesn't put his head over the pill.

Jordan Lewis, a player I much admire, is a serial stager. And there are countless others...

At the end of the day, I don't give a rats what either of these 2 tools say about anything.

I'm starting to suspect they're lovers........Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Absolutely spot on about McGuire and Brereton. Because he's such an egomaniac, McGuire deep down would blame Goodesy for the racial issues and Brereton has never forgiven Goodesy and the Swans for knocking over the Hawks in 2012.

The issue of Goodesy's staging came up on last night's Footy Classified and, as a few of the people on the panel are McGuire buddies, I thought it was going to be a Goodesy bashing session. It wasn't. Garry Lyon admitted he staged for free kicks, Matthew Lloyd admitted he did it a lot and Craig Hutchison said he couldn't see what the problem was. The general consensus was, though, that with the magnificent career Goodesy's had, it would be a great shame if he was to be remembered for the staging.

I liked what Hutchy had to say on the topic...it really shouldn't be this big of an issue. It's as if people are just jumping all over any chance to have a crack at Goodes/Sydney.

Its the Melbourne Media and Melbournecentric AFL circle. They do not like the fact that the Swans are in the Finals. Again. So, lets pin the tail on......whoever is the closest thing to being a target. And this week it is Adam. I am surprised it isn't Buddy or Tippo. Ah well, there is always next week.

Did ANYONE make a mention of the fact that the Swans lost by all of three points, with a ruckman in his first game, one kid playing his third, one his 7th, and etc? No? Thought not. But Richmond are brilliant. Apparently.

Anyone else noted that now Eddie is going overseas to find out why his players are injured? Not looking for answers at home, which is where I would start surely. Am I being churlish? Yes I am, and I don't care.

Bartel, Thomas and Lewis have all received the same treatment in recent weeks. It's not always the media's fault. Goodesy is staging/exaggerating regularly and only the most biased Swans supporter could argue otherwise.

Richmond won. The plaudits always go to the winners. We finished on top, they finished 8th. That's all I care about.

Primmy, you took the words right outa my mouth.
Yes, its great that Richmond are into the finals by 3 points, but really, you'd think they won the flag from 8th position. And Eddie! wow, he's really shown his true colours on that ridiculously biased, on-eyed Sunday night show. I really hope Fox doesn't renew it next year. On the other hand, I've been pleasantly surprised by Jason Dunstall. He always seems to be trying to give balanced opinions and I haven't heard him criticise Buddy for leaving.

Fox Footy has been hijacked, that's for sure. On The Couch remains the best show for balanced analysis. Jason Dunstall commentates how he used to play - fairly and professionally.

The staging point - I cringed when I saw Adam do THAT on the weekend. However, I'm not hanging him for it. It's something I've seen over the years that is more common with players in the latter stages of their career. Once they feel out of the contest or off the pace they can do some funny/strange things.

Secondly, the Richmond loss. Yes, I agree there is a lot of "Tiger Time" in the media but let them have their moment in the sun. I thought our performance was great given the circumstances.

ANZ stadium - UUrrgghh. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't look right but we need it "to keep the b....... honest". Yes, the SCG Trust.

Anyone else got any other irrelevancies they'd like to discuss?

I'd like to talk about what a nice, intelligent person Bob Murphy seems to be. AFL will be poorer when he decides to retire.

I agree, IMO he's one of the more interesting personalities in AFL.

Intelligent, witty, self deprecating, even quirky at times yet very down to earth. He's a beauty.

Just to keep on topic, he's pretty much the antithesis of 'Eddy theTool'.

Please keep it on topic. ie: Eddie and his manipulation of the AFL, not social commentators that don't affect the Swans directly. Otherwise -----------------> The Sandpit

I know there has been some discussion recently about whether it matters threads going way off topic. It is the issue I most frequently receive private messages about from a variety of posters as they find it intensively irritating. It is also a common observation made by those who use the "report post" function. And it is a common observation people make in thread, expressing their exasperation around threads being steered way off course.

The moderator group can't keep every poster happy. Whatever we do, some will disagree. However, this is one area where we believe the majority of posters prefer threads stay vaguely on topic, and Scott made a request a couple of weeks ago for members to try and do this.

Edit: Further to the comments above (which have been truncated slightly from when I posted them this afternoon), I have now deleted a number of off topic posts. If people want to discuss Kochie, Alan Jones, Amanda Vanstone et al, there are a few other forums where such discussions might be appropriate.

There may have been a little collateral damage along the way - ie some posts that weren't really dragging the thread way off course on there own but have fallen the way of the rest.

I have hived off a handful of posts that had started a relevant football discussion around which other teams we'd like to see do well in the finals (or not). That new thread is now sitting in the General AFL forum. The opening post in that thread isn't exactly about finals but it is what generated the later posts.

The thread is now re-open for posting, but can we please try to keep it vaguely on topic. If you have something irrelevant to this thread you would like to say, start a new thread in an appropriate forum. Eventually the moderators will start issuing infractions to those who persistently and deliberately drag threads off topic.

Anyone hear fat head Eddie's snipe at us when McClure made a statement regarding us and Ryder saying we need a ruckman? The flog we don't have a salary cap and then chuckled away with the rest of the fox footy panel before moving on.

So sick of that wanker and his little digs at us using his position in the media to do so. It smacks at jealousy at the highest order at where his so called powerful club is sitting at the moment and where we are which is at the top!
