Imagine a footy world without Ed and his gang? No Brereton using 3 paragraphs to tell us its raining and the ball will be heavy by foot, no more ultra blokey personalities ruling the airwaves from his production stable, no more footy show and sam newman, no more gaudy tacky game day experiences, a lot less blokey macho bogan attitudes, no pushing of VFL ideals.

It would be awesome and i would enjoy footy a lot more again unlike the current climate which leaves me feeling negative and angry. I cant even watch a game these days without muting the sound as they all parrot the same thing and the majority of them are just dumb.

Most the time in jest, but given the number of kids that probably listen to it, it is no wonder bullying is still rife in our schools and workplaces.
Why anybody with half a brain would ever listen to those boofheads is beyond me. Especially considering there is such brilliant analysis and insight offered by the ABC Grandstand team. And no ads or gratuitous in-conversation commercial mentions. The difference is stark.

You're so right about Grandstand, pure commentary without bias or bull****. They are like the Swans of footy commentary....no dickheads!!

Remember this time last year when Jeremy Buckingham, Greens MLC got this motion through the NSW Upper House. Eddie McGuire labelled 'boofhead' by NSW Upper House for Adam Goodes remarks - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The original motion that was passed condemned Eddie McGuire for being (among other things) a 'continual boofhead'. Hilarious and so true. There's a video of him moving the motion online, but in that he doesn't state the words 'continual boofhead' unfortunately. The written motion did and it was passed, which etches this fact into the records of NSW history....forever.

Maybe a new bill can be introduced, arguing that the previous term of "boofhead" was far too polite?
And I've just read, that the Richmond players have voted to boycott Triple M for at least the next week. Good for them!

This Eddie McGuire episode is a very small example of how power wins out. It may take a bigger power, like Holden, to get this idiot out of football. It certainly won't be Gill.
Holden are just using this as a corporate penis waving opportunity, an opportunistic attempt to take the moral high ground without giving anything up.

If they don't walk away now having made such a song and dance the I'll be disgusted but when push comes to shove they'll support Eddie

If Eddie were to get sacked OR fined a massive amount OR chased away from the game he would destroy the AFL. He has a megaton of business contacts and has a LOT of clout in the business world. You think middle aged executives give a @@@@ what he said? In fact i am sure most executives would think the same way as Ed.

The AFL stands more to loose by banning McGuire.

Not only that, the AFL runs the risk of angering their biggest supporter base amd risking their bottom line.

I love the swans and i sort love the game, but thats where it stops with me. I hate everything else about the code, the way its run right down to the majority of meathead supporters.

                        THIS is the problem.

Eddie, seriously, is just NOT that important.

No one would miss him if he went away. AFL can and will go on without him.

All the AFL need to do is fine him and brayshaw like they did to Brad Scott.

Whether he goes or stays is up to him.

hahaha Ahh yes he is, he might not be important in your eyes, but to the AFL he is. He has a lot of clout, he sits on a lot of boards has many mates in high end places and his brother is a Victorian pollie.

For every person that hates Eddie there are 5 who love him in Melbourne.

And which city is the AFL run from?

                                Exactly.

Even if they do fine him, is there a law that states he has to pay the fine? Its always made me wonder, what happens if a player decides not to pay a fine from teh AFL, what would happen apart from getting a ban?

What would the AFL do if Eddie gets a 10k fine and then never pays it?
