I'm not against it myself. Gene Simmons is also an advocate of benevolent dictatorship. Just by the by.

I think the Pies won, which is why I am alive today to tell this story.
Is this what it was like?

        Classic video.

I remember as a kid going to see games when every other bloke would enter the ground with a slab under their arms. It got ugly occasionally but surprisingly not more often than it did considering the amount of beer that used to get consumed.

Its a good historical exercise to see what people did when they had time to kill before mobile phones, .... or blaring pop music.

            They did.... nothing.

How would today's generation cope ?

They talked about the game, work, life and in the case of the burly fat painters and dockers guys in the video, crime.

My fondest memory of footy-going as a teenager was a day much like this at windy hill.

I remember in the 80's we'd (boyfriend at the time and his mates) go to Moorabin and see St Kilda v whoever - sit down the bottom in front of the main grandstand - grass hadn't grown there for decades! You could take your fold up stool and Eski and enjoy the afternoon - sure it was rough as and I was there one of the days that the grandstand was set alight (this was a regular occurrence apparently ) and I always remember the cheer squad walking around the ground at half time with an outstretched blanket and people would throw coins at them- rarely getting the blanket but the poor kids carrying it instead. It was a simpler time.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Nice - I probably saw you there! I grew up thataways and used to go down there and watch the Saints pretty regularly in the '80s just for the fun of it, even though I followed the Swans. Saints still my second team as a result. I well remember both the blanket and the hoons in the "Animal Enclosure". "Simpler" doesn't begin to describe it.

Took awhile to see this reply, and no it wasn't!! But they did settle a bit at half time....they had to recharge the batteries for the second half onslaught of 'feralness'!

And Holden has restructured its sponsorship agreement with Collingwood so that now than half of Holden's sponsorship money will be directed to Collingwood's new women's team and to community programs. Brilliant move by Holden in my view.
