      Hannebery is definitely out

(sorry if I missed someone else posting that, I did look)

And those espousing his defensive qualities, he was only credited with 1 tackle. So obviously his other defensive efforts were not effective. People are saying that he will be taking over from Rhyce or Mal. Yet they average around 25 disposals a game. So if he is going to be setting up play from the half back/wing position he needs to start getting the pill more. Even if he was to slot into a half forward position, he will need to be used in a midfield rotation, so if he doesn?t get the ball then he will not be effective. Look I?m not bagging him, but cautiously optimistic.
He's probably less likely to rack up tackle stats in the role he was performing across the back line (absurdly, in our game- only 4 of our top 20 for average tackles per game are defenders, and that's including Gary as one- Teddy and Reg are right at the bottom), his 1%ers are probably better to look at for his defensive contribution as it includes spoils- he had our game high.

He didn't get a lot of touches (he generally doesn't), but he didn't seem to be playing a defensive sweeper role either- a lot of Mal and Shaw's possessions are setup from team structure more than winning the ball themselves, it's hard to do that if it's not the role you've been given (and if you just go and try to do it I imagine you'd be dragged for a word pretty quickly).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Callum Twoomey seems to think shaw is ready to come back but Hannas isn't. I'd have agreed with that after the injury report last week, let alone this week. Tom Mitchell will resume training which is good. Bo is about 3 weeks away and Zac has had a setback. Twoomey also mentioned Sammy Naismith as playing well in the Twos. He is/was but I don't think we are going to use the upgrade until a few weeks before the finals. This upgrade, I think will be used on need alone and the two players most likely are Naismith and Biggs. We have plenty of players who can play forward but not too many who are defensive specialists. With Nanka coming back I don't know if Sam N will get an upgrade even if we need a ruckman. If the coaches take the softly, softly approach, Biggs will get an upgrade if needed just before finals and play the last two matches. If not nobody gets upgraded.

Doubt they would go that way....More likely

LRT for a last stand....Remember he is a grandfinal specialist.

No, but I think they would be more likely to play LRT(if fit) as a stop gap ruckman in a finals campaign, ahead of a rookie.

Unfortunately, LRT has moved on to his post AFL career. He is not even in good enough form to make the NSW Rams atm. He's probably only ahead of Pat Mitchell on our list.

Is he working for an entity outside of the Swans? Is he still full time at Moore Park?

He's still at Moore Park, but is working as a double agent for Collingwood. He's spying on our reserves team to see if we are hiding away any top talent from the undermanned Victorian clubs.

I think we caught wind of it, because in the reserves game against NT Thunder all of our players, except Biggs and ROK, were clearly tanking so not to draw attention of nasty out of state recruiters.

Now that Heeney is a lock for the Brownlow, we have to do everything we can to keep our local boys at home. Whatever it takes, as they say. Abe Davis made sure to miss his 2 shots on goal. Pat Mitchell already had his regulation 5 disposals by halftime (the scorers must have been bribed), so we had to sub him off, else he might come to the attention of the recruiters when he comes out of contract next year. I think Tom Derickx is him mentor.

Back on subject: LRT had 6 disposals and 15 Dreamteam points, which would suggest that he still has a long way to go to push himself ahead of our other Mitchell (Tom that is). Even though Tom was out injured, he still managed 9 disposals and 5 tackles.

                          According to Doc Larkins;

Sam Reid hyperextended his left knee in the third quarter against Hawthorn but finished the game. I think he was fortunate not to do any structural damage but he will have stretched the knee and may have some soreness.

They'll wait and see how he trains but he will require treatment this week and may have some swelling, which places him in doubt for Friday night.

If Sam is out this Friday night I was asking myself, what position are we replacing here. Are we replacing a forward or a defender. The answer is both. So who do we bring in for him? If it is a straight swap for Shaw, then we are losing a tall goal kicking option. If we bring in a forward in say Membrey then we are losing a tall defender. What are your thoughts?

We'd be replacing a forward, defender and ruckman. Not sure Tippo looked ready to resume even minor ruck duties last weekend.

How could I forget his ruck work. He is quite valuable to our team structure at the moment as Tippett shouldn't be risked even part time. So may have to consider LRT, though from what I understand he hasn't been displaying much in the reserves.
