It's like going to see a band and only the bass player and drummer turn up and play.....You need the whole band.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

It feels almost at deflating as when certain pick up lines in my single days stopped working. You think you have a winning strategy, only to realise you have to adapt and evolve the strategy.Comment

Considering we were playing a rookie ruckman, and missing 3 of our best clearance players in Kennedy, Bird and McGlynn (although I note that Tom Mitchell stepped up in their absences) it wasn't surprising that Richmond won the clearances which were the platform for their great start. We came back into it but our slipshod use going into out forward line cost us, not helped by having key personnel missing in Franklin and Parker (who had to play more midfield than usual), and Goodes not managing to grasp one of his numerous chances at the end.Comment

Agree on the umpiring, but not the only problem. If only one of the several behinds had been a goal - and three or four were gettable, not to mention Goodsey's "dropsy" - the result would have been different.
I didn't think Naismith was that bad; after all, Maric is probably the form ruck man at present. We played badly in the wet again; the Tiges were tidier both in kicking and collecting most of the time. And there were very encouraging signs from Mitchell, Biggs again, and Jones.
Rampe as above, among our best. Solid games from the mids after a slow start, esp. Hannebery, Parker, McVeigh, Jack and Jetta. Reid improved as the game went on. We will certainly jump a level or two next weekend. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. Gotta give big credit to Harry Cunningham. He seems to have stepped up to the hungry one in the absence of Benny Mc. Some of his running and marking was remarkable.Comment

It was a good result in the end. The loss meant nothing to us. We came through without injuries. It turned what should have been a meaningless boring game into a very good contest, especially in the 4th qtr. And it brings some real excitement to the bottom half of the finals'draw.Comment

I would have preferred they had found a way to win, regardless of the fact they didn't need to. But given that the team that lined up was different to the one we expect to play next week, I guess it doesn't matter too much.Comment

Considering he would normally start his career as a backup ruckman rather than our #1 ruck with no specialist ruck support, I thought his debut wasn't horrific. But his instinct to handball first was Pyke, without the accuracy.Comment

It's hard for any new ruckman in the AFL, particularly those who have not developed the confidence of scoring 90m tries against the All Blacks.Comment
