So... for the Swans to finish top 2....

All they have to do is win the next three.
Richmond the biggest potential problem game.

Given that Hawks play Cats, if we win all three we finish top 2.
1 or 2 really doesn't matter, in fact depending on the recent run of form, sometimes finishing second is more beneficial...
Would be nice to end up on top though...

Because we are playing Tigers on Saturday in R23, it is better if we finish 2nd, so that we can play QF on Saturday as well (and not Friday). But as always, 1 week at the time, please.

Given Hawthorn play Geelong in Rd 22, we probably only need to win 2 of the last 3 - assuming a couple of comfortable margins and a close loss.

For Hawthorn to maintain their % advantage over us you'd expect they'd have to win all 3, which means we'd have to lose 2/3 to go behind Geelong (given our superior %).

Likewise if Geelong win all 3, they'll have beaten Hawthorn which dents their %. And Hawthorn still need to beat Freo in Perth next week as well.

Afl.com.au has a ladder predictor where you can play out various scenarios over the last few rounds.

        Ladder Predictor - AFL.com.au

The fact that Geelong and the Hawks are playing each other is a pretty handy fact for our run at the Top 2. If things go as I predict, we'll meet Geelong in the first week of the finals (regardless of if we finish 2nd or 3rd). If we get through we're looking at Port or Freo. Good news is we're unlikely to meet the Hawks again before the Grand Final.

Anyway, this is all pie in the sky stuff. I'm sure no one at the club is even thinking about this.

Next week Hawks vs Freo is a big game for us to finish 1.

We can drop one and still finish top 2.

A draw for the Cats/Hawks game would be a good outcome.

Good call. I don't think there has been a draw all year. It's about time for one

You should get pretty generous odds

Have we ever won a flag AND the minor premiership?

Yep, I think it was in 1909 and 1918.

                            Now we know we have.

Does anyone remember seeing when we won a flag AND the minor premiership?

If we finish 1st then it won't matter to hawthorn or Geelong whether they finish 2nd or 3rd since they will play each other at the MCG, that of course assumes Freo finishes 4th.
